Default Accord Type-R

As the title says.... I am interested in an Accord Type-R

Is anyone able to provide me with some basic pro's and con's...

They are great. 5th gear syncro’s are the only mechanical issue IIRC. This was eradicated in the later models. Like all Type R’s servicing is essential to make it last – and watch out for ex-taxi’s.

Look for those Japanese time attack vids on youtube.

Used to own one. Excellent car all round. Only quibble is the lack of a sixth gear. You have to change up just before the rev limiter to avoid dropping out of the vtec zone. Other than that I would say they are the best £20k family car of the 90s, Imprezas included.

Lovely car, huge boot, doesn't attract attention, great sound, chuckable beyond belief. Amazing seats, wonderful reliability, superb brakes.

Lacks torque.

Buy one.

Agree with all of that but especially the lack of torque, this can make overtaking much more difficult especially if heavily loaded (not too bad if you're by yourself). All relative to an Impreza of course. I'm OK though, I've got one of each
