Default SEAT Cupra TD150

Anyone had one or driven one? This is the old shape one, not the new 170bhp jobbie...

Seen a nice looking one nearby at a decent price, and have been in my mates 130 diesel powered Ibiza FR and was v.impressed with the grunt and in gear shove - obviously the Leon is bigger, the engine is tweeked a bit more and the chassis (I believe) is shared with the golf MK4 platform rather than the Polo / Fabia.

I just sold my ibiza cupra tdi 160bhp and it was great and it turned out it was chipped to 190bhp but the clutch was starting to slip i think. all the tourqe in the world in such a small car. the same as my sti PPP but the ride and build quality was ****! And for some reson they are prone to front suspension knocks. Great diesel engine though!!! Let me know if you need anymore info. Plus the MPG was not as great as the book figure was.

My cousin has a chipped Fr and loves it, however its back to standard now (switchable) as it slips the clutch.

I reckon a 2.0 tdci Focus would be a much better proposition though, better chassis and a more subtle engine, the VAG unit is nice but the 150 bhp one is a bit laggy compared to the 130.

P.S. I have the 170bhp "Jobbie" - Now remapped with 205 Bhp and over 400Nm

I didn't think the new 170 Diesel engines could be chipped because of the DPF... Interesting!

My brother has the new shape Leon, but with the petrol turbo engine and dsg box... Nice car but nowhere near as involving as my MX5, would the old shape leon be any better chassis wise?

No... Old shape similar chassis to MkIV Golf, though the Leon always handled better. Mk2 Leon is MKV chassis, much better

DPF limits the available power available by remapping, otherwise 220+bhp is easily achieved. There are removal kits now available from Miltek - but I dont really want to go down that route.
