Default Porsche Carrera 4s?

How quick and what bhp have these got as standard heard a guy talking in the bank this morning saying that his has got 500bhp as standard and goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds is he right or talking s**t as I thought these kind of figures were only on the Turbo 911 or 966 and maybe the gt3 any thoughts on this or any correct figures.

A 4s is "just" a wide bodied version of the 4 so should be circa 360bhp. Think that the 4 refers to 4 wheel drive A "well sorted" STi should be OK against one whilst a standard STi will probably struggle ...

I'd certainly not let one past without a fight

Carrera 4S is the poser's Porsche. It has the disadvantage of the extra weight and drag of the wide body, without the extra power of the Turbo. Best stick with a regular C4 if you cannot afford a Turbo.

On a similar note, our neighbour has just splashed out the best part of 40K on a mildly pimped up Cayman. It only pumps out 245bhp, so less than my 6K Impreza.

Unless he mis-described the model; he's talking poo.

Judging by his propensity to exagerate I'd speculate that he is a successful estate agent!

the 4's are pretty quick but lack the punch of a turbo. Put a 911 turbo against a scoob both with good drivers and the 911 will eat you up and spit you out without even thinking about it... on straight line speed or a corner, those things are unbelievable! Those that say it wont aint been in one (i have been lucky enough to as my boss has a brand new one )

As to the guy that spun his porsche trying to keep up... well he needs advanced driving lessons not a new scooby best mod you can make to a car is the driver imho.

A lot of the "my car is faster as i beat a ferrari" crap is down to the driver. Ive out performed scoobs in the corners in my previous MR2 roadster that had over 100bhp less than the car trying to chase me that couldnt touch me on the twisties (of course caught me on the straight line speed) but its as much to do with how the driver uses the car as to how much power it has.

let them quote all the figures they like... its even funnier when they make them up like the original post said

Thing about all of Porsches, Ferraris, etc etc.. is that you have to be a really good driver to get the most out of them. IMO.

An average driver in an Impreza or Evo is always going to look good compared to an average driver in a 911 or 360.

993 is at the top of my next car list, first choice will be the C4S. I'm not a sideways hero, and coming from the Scoob enjoy being able to go in a straight line when intended. It's not all about power, the 4S gets better brakes as well as being a stunner.

22B was/is quicker than a 911 turbo though & that was years ago (Performance Mag test?). I'll concede that a 911T is a mad car (& I'd love a GT3 given the money no object question) however on a normal road (not a track) I can't believe that there will be much in it at sane road speeds ie below 100mph ...

Car was 294bhp as standard & tested on a RR.
