What do you call a convertible skoda...............
Someone i was aware of had one of these 20 years ago - may well have been a bargain but it looked cheap to me and the engine was definitely budget
But for some reason your correct it almost looks cool from that angle

as they say "don't knock it til you tried it"
i can heartily agree you definitely need spanners for fingers if you own one of these, but can be worth it!
loudest car i've ever owned (scoob inc) engine in back one grp n silencer total exhaust length about two and a half feet spittin flames ,my 7 year old loved it. i'm up for all the skip jokes cos i agree unless you do something to 'em they are slow, unreliable, rusty and well unpopular with the masses.

Used to get called Budget 911, the magazine raved, the public were less convinced and usually crashed them as they thought Budget 911 meant cheap and fast, it really meant that it was rear engined and liable to kill the unwary.
I cant remember last time I saw one, I think it was one at Oulton park with a Vauxhall 2.0 in it.
Quite like them for being a bit different and actually quite a nice shape, they did a cabrio which was the cheapest route into open top motoring there was in the eighties.

To be fair the Czechs have always had a reutation for great engineering ability
If it wasn't for communist Russia's stranglehold on their country, Skoda would have been a force to be reckoned with

I used to have a 130 Fastback which I got when I swapped a Mini with a blown engine!
It was absolutely fantastic especially in the snows that there were in the winter of 85 - flick left/flick right/flick left for as long as you wanted then straighten up when you got bored! Totally predictable.
Couple of problems - heating didn't work so it was gloves and thermals and the bracket that held the clutch and brake pedal pivot sheered off as I came into a roundabout luckily it wasn't busy and I drove up a bank to stop the car LOL
But it was cheap motoring, so cheap that although they put in the driving lights, they didn't fit bulbs! Trip to halfords cured that but try main beam and the alternator used to struggle!

Wow that brings back memory's, my mate used to have one when we were 17. It had a body kit and four spoke revys and big spots like your one. It was white but looked pea green in some lights. Cool fun being RWD and a bit different than every one elses capri / Escort at the time.
