I doubt it was at 150+ mph as stated. Optimistic eye witnesses again. If it had been 150mph with car would have split in 2 and the driver killed.

Remember the RS6 that hit a lampost?

Still, remindes me of the day I crashed my dads Cossie into a Lampost with my mother in the car with me. Not a happy day

Given where they are in the world, I think the quoted speed is kph.

OMG, you crashed your dads car, a nice car, and your mum was with you Man, that would have been a bad year, not a bad day. I hope all were OK.

So in addition to needing to find a new car and new parents. You would also have to find a new girlfriend when she found this out

18 years old, wet road. Pulling up to junction to turn right. Watch this I thought. Full power, get the back end out, correct the slide and away I'd go Dukes of Hazard style

It went wrong after full power

No one hurt, well, apart from my pride.
I honestly though my dad was going to kill me. I had to phone him up from a nearby phone box.

Me - "Dad, there's a problem with the car"
Dad - "What"
Me - "I've kind of crashed it............. into a Lampost"
Dad - Silence .................................... "******* B*stard"

We can laugh about it now though, just.

He really does deserve to be locked up. That must have been massive speed - 150 or not - to do that amount of damage.

just shows how strong that bm is, if it was a audi, it would have split in 2!, one of the front lights still works!

The damage is 'cos the lamp post is so strong, I bounced a Golf at aboout the same speed, but compared to that the damage was minor.... but still did every panel.

150+ christ. Give me a shovel. 80kph impact...if that.

Still, seems they make traffic posts better than the ones we have; There's one by me that get's knocked down every 2 months or so without fail.

Very nasty but is it just me who can't work out how it has happened? There are no skid marks visible but the really weird thing for me is the fact that it must have gone fully sideways up a big kurb yet both alloys on the damaged side are fine.

If ever there is a case for using collapsible poles for street furniture that is it!

Chris
Was wondering this myself, possibly airborne when it hit..?

There is no kerb behind the car as it sits in those photo's, so the other possibility is it came from the direction it's now pointing, sliding sideways into the post and the momentum/weight of the engine spun it around on the post IYSWIM..?

Very nasty and VERY lucky either way..!

[QUOTE=*Jamie*;7432456]Simon Main stacks luxury BMW | The Daily Telegraph

Bloody hell!

"It is the latest drama for Main, 37, since he returned to Sydney after four years in an Italian jail for his role in the world's biggest ecstasy bust, worth $10 million."

Who does this guy think he is, Keith Richards?

Mohammed Al Fayed says it was a dastardly attempt by MI5 to kill a well respected, upstanding man who hasn't got a stain on his character . . . only on his underpants.

And if you read the newspaper report, the crook's solicitor says she's not sure if the car's a write off!!
