£60K is estimated for the UK. It'll be at least that, probably closer to £70k with some choice options

John, have you rung up a dealer to see what the score is? This should be the car you've been waiting for ie 400BHP, turboed to allow mods, 4wd etc. I'd love one but need 4 proper seats

I've read info on Welcome - GTR OWNERS CLUB from those who've spoken to Middlehurst, apparently they are taking £1k deposits but with no guarantee on final price yet.
I do think it ticks all my boxes as my cheap(er) 911 turbo with the engine in the right place and lower key image. I like the sound of all the toys as well.
I hope it should hold its money quite well given the previous experience with the R34, especially UK models. If the UK premium isn't too much then I'd go for a UK model with warranty, keep it standard, have easy insurance/resale etc compared to an import, but it depends on the deals available nearer the time.
It sounds like the ideal upgrade from an Evo with still some Jap madness in there, but more friendly as a daily hack.

Low key image? You been taking some of my drugs mate
I'm a bit concerned about the weight though. Will it grip well but not be fun to chuck about?

The Evo X will be c.10% heavier than the IX, but with the same power laps quicker, presumably due to more tyre, stiffer chassis, fancier diffs etc. Even then it isn't as much fun apparently to fling about as the IX, but arguably it is a bit too involving as a daily hack.
Then the GTR will be about 10% heavier again than the Evo X, in the ballpark with RS4, M3, M6, C63 etc. The straight line and lap times of the GTR sound surprising given its weight, but the weight distribution is very good, and again it has a lot of tyre, adjustable dampers, huge brakes etc. Despite the weight over the 997 Turbo it seems competitive.
For the sort of daily driver I want, I would happily accept 10-15% weight over something like the Evo X to have another 1.8 litres whilst still being turbocharged and AWD, along with more toys.
I imagine the GTR will perform not unlike an Evo IX modified to c.400 BHP, but as a more sophisticated package that should strike a nice balance between fun and non being a pain to live with. It should be ahead of RS4/M3/C63 I would think, but the competition from those should keep the pricing honest? There would be very little likely to hold me back from an M5/M6 if they weren't RWD. I reckon the GTR will be the best compromise for me. I'm quite excited, but I expect it will be more than a year before I can take delivery of one.

JB, it does seem like one heck of a car. The RS4, at the same weight, is actually quite 'chuckable' more so than my M5. (Maybe thats due to the 150 or so extra kgs over mine). I'm thinking about putting a deposit down (especially if its refundable up to the point when prices are confirmed)
I wonder how much space there is in the back? Smaller than the R33 (thats the only one I've sat in)

NISSAN GT-R press information...
Click lineup-specifications then specifications and scroll down and there is info on leg room.
I wonder how tunable it will be with the anti-tamper electronics, 0.15mm thick cylinder liners etc. I'm thinking I would keep it standard at least initially, and probably happy to keep it like that if it turns out to be a PITA to modify.

Gross vehicle weight of an STI is 1900kg, I go by kerb weights.
Kerb weight is 1740kg for the GTR - which is 23% higher than my Evo IX. 997 Turbo Tiptronic is 1620kg. Porsche also quote a kerb weight of 1695kg, which would be comparable to how BMW quote their weights which include 68kg driver and 7kg luggage.
