My inlaws have one, had it from new (51 plate) and its been reliable not had any problems that I know of. Only done 25000 miles though.. MPG wise I think they get about 20 - 25. Still drives smooth and pulls well etc even at 6 years old.

I have one at the moment 2000 on an X , very easy car to live with, deceptively quick (232 bhp) I average 26-27 mpg over 30 on a run, find a high spec one if you can, great car.

Liking that a lot, what would i be looking at pricewise for a low-ish mileage one? Will have around 9k to play with.

A freind has one, they're a very capable sports coupe. The ride is a bit firm, but at least you have the BMW build quality which means no squeaks or rattles. He's only had a few niggling problems like the windows not activating when the doors were shut (the automatically retract and seat when the doors are opened and shut) and it seems to get through front disks. If I was in the market for that "type" of car, it would definately be on my shortlist.

Funnily enough I am going to see one tomorrow, after looking at a Clio 182 and being dissapointed I crossed it off my list and the 330i is next.
I have 8 grand or therabouts to spend so its going to be a 98k milles 2000 model but it looks very tidy, to be honest a 98k BMW is more reassuring than a 10k Renault.
Its up at £7,500, which seems about middle ground for the age and mileage, might be able to knock it down a little.
Its Silver with Grey leather and the car I said I would never own, I have overcome my BMW prejudice (too common nowadays), have always thought that the Coupe is a very handsome car, better looking than the one before (which just looks old and chavvy) and the new one that just isnt as good looking.
