They're ace, full stop.

Although when I were a lad, I went to Dalby Forest a coupla times to see the RAC, with the old 2wd Escorts ... and the Stratos

Pitch black, cold, people with torches, waiting for the first car to come through and then you hear this unearthly ripping wail as lights pierce the trees.

The noise builds like a scene from a horror movie until a tiny wedge of white red & green, brake discs glowing bright orange, bursts into view, spits gravel and mud and shrieks away into the dark.

Once heard, never EVER forgotten.

Spooky, I spent half an hour last night on youtube watching the Lancia S4.

Its just the best noise ever! turbo and super charged. The whine is immense.

I know its not the same, but I really can't wait to be the owner of Delta EVO. More excited than when I bought the scoob (probably nerves that it will break in 2 seconds)

YouTube - Bruno Anzere - Lancia S4

This is also very cool

YouTube - Lancia S4 on indoor karting

2nd edit - I thought this was NSR!

I've been in a road going 205T16 which was fun and ,luckily enough, a rally spec 205T16 which was terrifying.

Ahh, Group B.

Timo Salonen, *** on, 205 T16, 450bhp, no active diffs or stability control, and 75 stages over 5 days in Kielder, Clocaenog, Penmachno, Dalby et all, with just one 8 hour rest halt in the middle.

Them were the days lad.

Group B- The glory days of motorsport, and one of my number one passions!

My uncle was lucky enough to work for ARG during the 1986 season as Tony Pond and Malcom Wilson's osteopath. And as a result he managed to get my dad a rather good deal on one of the Ex-Works 6R4's when the ban was bought in in 1986.

Oh how I wish he still had it. He said it was the only car he's ever driven that has scared the living crap out of him!

Too true. I was a marshall on the RAC once in Ae Forest. The sight and sound of these beasts will live with me forever. Stratos, Quattro, TR7 V8, etc

Ahhh amazing times, i used to book the week off work and follow the RAC every year in the 80's, one year I hadnt got the time off work and ended up phoning in sick from Scotland .
Me and my mate Rob in a Mk2 RS Mexico following the rally through the lakes and into Scotland and then hearing the sound of a 6R4 ages before the thing comes into sight ....memories that are still fresh in my mind 20 years on and will stay with my forever .....and the first time a T16 came past us at full chat ...amazing

I'm unlucky to have never really expreienced seeing these cars in their full proper glory, but i don't blame them for banning them, after watching all the clips.

That's just crazy power.
