Hum Drum cars made to look sensational
Following on from the Lancia thread it got me thinking.
As a boggo standard Lancia Delta they look, well maybe not ugly but a bit dull and boring, but stick a bodykit and wheels on it and they look sensational and endow a family hatch with jaw dropping looks especially the end of line EVO version, same goes for the Escort, a dull drap boring looking car with the aid of karmenn transformed into the Escort Cosworth, which still turns heads after 15 years and still looks fantastic
is there any other cars that are like this?
Only thinking

I think road going cars of that look fantastic, most memorable for me is the Sport Quatto's and the Volvo 850 T5-R is a personal favorite.
Motorsport wise I like the Group B stuff, 6R4, RS200 and the S1 Quattro. Also the Berg Cup entrants are jaw dropping!

The subaru impreza of course!
However, not quite maybe as they've taken a hum drum loking car and made it look like a hum drum looking car with spoilers, scoops and other tat However, some reckon on 'sensational' and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that

Totally agree - no one can say a Subaru is a good looking car - aggressive and purposful looking maybe but certainly not good looking

I think Nissan GTIRs look pretty cool. Also Skylines are just basic 2 and 4 door cars before the get the GTR treatment.
Anything with wide arches get a from me. But we are talking cars here

Well Ive just found out that im getting a Vauxhall Astra SRi on the 3rd Sept (57 reg) but its not your bog standard SRi ...ohh no ...its got the VXR exterior pack on it and it still looks crap.
Just goes to show that you cant make some cars look good no matter what you do ....at least its free.

Not really hum drum but the Aston Martin Virage was a very bland looking car.
Then they offered a Vantage wide body conversion - flared arches, lowered and the widest wheels I've ever seen on the FRONT of a car (285/50 tyres on 10"x18" OZ wheels ):
Bit difficult to see the differences (apart from one is a Volante), but the whole composure and proportions of the car is changed from something that is a bit bland to something that is aggressive an imposing.
Crap cars though. Awfully built, awfully expensive to maintain and awful to drive.
