There's a lot of insane people about. I have been in a Fisher Fury with all the lightened bits (pretty sure it was under 500kg anyway) with one of the Nissan 200SX turbo lumps fitted, running a hybrid turbo and various other bits for over 300bhp. Lets put it this way - I saw it clearly haul in a fireblade that sounded/looked flat out, from a 60mph rolling start. And I'd thought my brother's Fury at ~300bhp/tonne was normally quick enough.

It was changing hands for 13k (ish) back when I had her, which was around March 2003. Make sure have a real good test drive, all that power in such a light car makes for a very 'entertaining' drive, not suited to average drivers

They can be a real handful. Back a few years ago, I was doing a trackday at Mallory in my 'blade powered Westie. Following a cossie powered Westie was interesting. You could see EXACTLY when it came on boost, as the back end side stepped by about 18" !!!!! Very very twitchy, and you need to be a real driver to handle one at the limit. No 4WD and computers!

I have just seen a Westfield on a web site (piston heads I think it was/or westfield site ).
It had TWO zx9r bike engines in it ,putting out over 300 bhp .
Now that must sound mental going up the road /track full blat !!
Exhausts looked a bit crazy (two systems ),one above the other down the side of the car .!!!

I was lucky enough to get some ride in John's Westie - fantastically brutal power. I remember going out of the pit lane at Donnington and having my head slammed back into the headset with amazing force

They are quite easy to drive, if you are used to steering with the throttle. The best car Westfield ever made IMHO, you can cruise in 5th from almost any speed, yet if you want to go quickly it's capable of that too.
I dropped the top speed on mine to 165MPH, as the front started to take off above that due to the lift from the front mudguards shape. I broke 3 sets of mudguard brackets because they couldnt handle the forces on them with the car up at 150MPH. I'll never forget one breaking in the middle of Belgium, the mudguard flew in the air and landed in the passenger seat, all a bit silly really.
Mine weighed 700kg including the wet weather gear and a full tank of fuel, they arn't hard to drive if setup properly, probably easier than an R500 caterham because you dont have to wring it's neck to go as quickly, above 120MPH it leaves an R500 for dead due to the extra torque/power. It's one of the few cars i miss driving, although i now get to drive cars with 3 times the power/torque and the same weight, but with downforce rather than lift, which is nice.
