Toyota Rav-4
With another little one on the way, we need to get rid of my wife's S3 and get something a little bigger. She quite fancies a Rav-4 other some of the other 4x4's and I was wondering is the engine is tunable in anyway?
Looking at a 53 plate 2.0 XT3 or 4 specifically (seeing a couple later in the week).
Anyone got one or had one?

Wife had one for the last 20 months, just sold it yesterday.
Can safely say it was one of my better purchases, extremely reliable and practical. When we bought it had the Toyota Steps and Bars fitted and it looked a million dollars. Just serviced it and changed the brakes had not one fault.
Only lost £1400 in 20 months. Bonus!

Superb cars - can thoroughly recommend.
My daily commuter is a 1995 92,000 mile 2.0 GX (one of the very first three door models).
12 years old she is 100% reliable.
£200 per annum fully comprehensive insurance + annual main dealer service is under £200
We purchased the "Rav-Meister" in January 2003 and since then she does 1,000 miles per month.
Great fun in all weathers, and I would not have got home on a number of bad weather occassions without the 4 wheel drive.
Handle brilliantly, well made - fantastic, safe family vehicle.

Not sure if you'll get much out of a petrol. The diesel can jump from about 110 to 140bhp, and associated torque, with a Van Aaken chip.
Their scoobynet is called Rav4World.
BTW - don't get a black one (where is he?)

Don't get a black one. I had a new 03 reg in black and although the car itself was great the paint was beyond belief. Sold the car after a year as it was bordering on a respray job and Toyota "officially" said it was tough although I managed to get "off the record" that there was a paint mix issue on black 03 reg cars. Bird lime would turn the paint from black to yellow/whitish within hours of landing and after a year of ownership my car looked like a Mr Blobby relation parked on the drive. The Paint was very soft and a gentle sponge could create deep swirl marks.
As said the car itself was very good but just don't buy a black 03 reg.
Good Luck
