..as I'm still continuing my research for a runaround with some character, I had a poke around Ebay and found some absolute gems of cars:

Citroen DS, 1983 Vauxhall Chevette saloon, Opel GT, Datsun 180....


Many of these appear have been garaged for their entire lives, and owned by elderly people who have died, meaning potentially a fantastic buy.

If I had the time/money at the moment I would have seriously bid for the Vauxhall Chevette - two-tone green, original vauxhall decals - pure retro genius!

 

Get in quick before the Life on Mars sequel, Ashes to Ashes has DCI Jean Hunt driving a Chevette or an Avenger!

Only in the last week an early 70's Avenger (in blue) sold for £7,600

 

My dad used to own a Chevette, also my brother's first car when he passed his test (1990) was a Chevette - Bloody horrible, slow, tinny cars - VX didn't start making anything half decent that size until the Corsa B IMO

 

If the 1973 beige Morris Marina I had as my first car ever becomes retro cool, then the world REALLY has gone mad!!

 

Nah, sod that lot, you should go for that 29k mile 86 1.6 205 GTI, its like new
