HI I run the Daihatsu CHarade GTti owners club and know a little about these ot a huge amount. Off the shelf tuuning parts are very thin in the UK although you may want to find someone who can import form Japan D Sport items whihc are thre ofical Daihatsu tuning arm.
Handling is the main issue as the car leans a great deal and wasn't great going round Caslte Combe. Had a fair bit of grunt but box didn't help.
If its anything like a normal Daihatsu the engine will be vastly over engineered and I'd be surprised if you could get well over 200bhp out if it quite easilly. Daihatsus normally response well to induction and exhaust mods and a little extra boost. Intake and exhaust are often quite small diamater and quite restrictive but cheap. We've got GTtis on stock internals with averified 180+bhp on the rollers and one due to run in two week or so that should be over 250bhp out of less than 1 litre.
Try regsitering on bbs.daihats.org and feel free to come along to any events we organise at UK GTti Owners Club
