Default help please..

Well as some of you know I've just sold my honda civic type-r and i'm needing to replace it with just a cheap shopping car, we chose the new vauxhall corsa. I'm already to order with some little extra's I want on the car and the guy said if I want the 17" I will have to wait maybe 12 weeks for the car but only 2 weeks if I get the standard wheels, don't need anyone telling me there isn't much difference I just like the 17" on the car, so, would I be able to order the alloy's off vauxhall and just get them put on my self!? The guy said something about the wheel bearings or something like that are different and the car needs making from fresh if I want the 17"!? Think he's pulling my leg but can anyone shed any light please???..

Thanks,

p.s. no slagging off of the car, we've still got the scooby!!

I know Vauxhalls are a different offset thats all.

he's taking the p***, its a well known fact that dealers make very little commission on the actual sale and make more money selling you mudflaps, wheels etc.

tell him you want the car with wheels asap and not 12 weeks or go somewhere else for the car

The cheeky ****

Brand new 07 plate, 1.4 sxi, black, including the wheels it was about 9.5k..

Also I wasn't thinking of getting air con because I never use it even in the summer but gav thinks I would be best of getting it for re-sale!? thats an extra £600!!!!!!

Is the guy talking rubbish when he said the car is made slightly different to have the 17"!?

Of course you can

But you will pay more than £350 via a parts dept purchase after you take delivery as there is no effective "rebate" on the standard wheels/tyres.

I suspect the dealer has a car "in the system" which is already on its way to him that matches the spec you want - hence trying to talk you out of a fresh order for one with 17s, as he can sell you the one he has already coming.

Typical vauxhall philosophy. And I know, cos I know a VX DP.

Phone another dealer, explain this one is giving you the runaround and that if they can do the right car at the same price with 17's and quick delivery you'll buy it.

I'd be surprised if they say no.

Sorry to be nosey, but do you mind saying what you got for your CTR please?

I've got a 05 reg one with 18k on the clock and am considering chopping it in for something a bit more baby friendly, but not if I'm going to take a massive loss on it...

Thanks

Not sure really.

I quite fancy a 4X4 - I know the green plebs won't like that, but who cares

I think the new Hyundai Sante Fe looks really nice, and seems cracking value if you get the CDX. But I may well keep mine for a year or two, on the basis that the Sante Fe will probably drop loads more in that time than mine.

I'm kind of hoping the new Type R will not go down too well, keeping prices of mine a bit higher...

Did you sort your wheel problem out?

Weren't you having trouble getting your new Corsa with 17's - you were trying to find somewhere to deliver one in less than 12 weeks.. Might have the wrong person completely of course

That's my problem too - what to spend the money on. We've just had a baby, and I'm thinking of waiting until they go to school (and my wife goes back to working when they are there) to move house. So I am thinking of just running the CTR for as long as possible, and saving anything I would spend on a car and put it towards a nicer house in 4/5 years time.
