Ford also have clearly stated that the Focus RS will NOT have a 4WD system, most people on car forums have been lamenting this fact!

Audi have clearly stated that there are no plans whatsoever of producing an RS3, most likey as it would effect RS4 sales.
Ford also have clearly stated that the Focus RS will NOT have a 4WD system, most people on car forums have been lamenting this fact!

Dumbass,
RS3 would never eat into the RS4s sales, they are two different models, or are blind?

I think that Evo spy shot was quickly disproved - but the truth is no one really knows. These days its possible for cars to get quite far down the development line without people knowing the exact spec - the new M3 is a good example - the complete spec is only just about to be published and the car has been out on the roads testing for well over a year now.
To be realistic I dont think Ford will sell many RS's, its going to cost too much when the R32, 130iM and S3 are all much better in terms of build and interior etc. If its a proper RS then there is no doubt it would be a storming car but these days people want more than out and out speed such as a nice cabin and lots of toys - just look how the Subaru WRX and STi sales are doing at the moment..

He is a mug indeed.
I stand by what I say, at the moment audi have no plans to make a RS3. There might not even be a RS-TT let alone a RS3.
As for your evo mag source janspeed you do know that manufacturers test several different drivetrains for upcoming models, hence the sighting of that car meaning jack.
However going by my ford insider, ford know that making a 280hp fwd car is silly and wont drive well, and are more than capable of making it 4wd.

Was that the bloke at the Ford dealership who serviced your Transit?
So let me just gather your claims: you have driven every current Audi model except the R8 so all your posts are based on personal experience and you have friends at Ford R&D who tell you about their forthcoming launches so you can post this information on a web forum. Any more to add?

Was speking to a Tech guy at Audi a few weeks ago at the customer preview session for the new R8 (not me, my old man), anyway I was asking about the RS3 and was told that there will be no RS3 for 2 reasons.
1) The cost would be too high, making it a £36k+ car thus making it on a par with the S4.
2) It would be faster than the S4.
So it's a no go then. This guy used to work at prodrive, and helped develop the PPP packs. He also worked on the development of the Mk1 Focus RS.
He did hint that Ford will know that 280BHP through the front wheels would be a no go, and suggested that if it gets the green light it would have 4WD. Obviously he doesn't work for Ford, but he knows a damn sight more than we do on here.
Asked about chipping the Audi S3 too. He said Audi had no plans to uphold warranties for UK customers chipping their cars. Germany is a different market apparently. Obviously nobody wants to chip their car in the UK???

I love topics like this, will they, wont they LOL. I remember the concept cossie focus that never came out (which was a shame). I use to work for Audi many years ago. I did lots of testing for them at Bruntingthorpe, have great memories of the turbo GT quattro and I remember them talking about weather it should of been released as a road car. I could see a future RS3 making a good little rally car.

RS3 - Possible but believe the issues with price/competition with A4 variants.
New RS - Doubtful at best. Ford are in big financial trouble. The MK1 RS was rumoured to have made a loss (on each car). Sticking in 4WD would price it out of its category by some margin.
Why do you think the MK1 was FWD. If they had fitted 4WD it would quite likely have been over 30K and no one would have bought it. The days of 4WD specials (Cosworths, GTIRs etc) are long gone due to financial constraints.

The Mk1 lost £7k on each car sold.
They couldn't fit 4WD to the Mk1, as the chassis wasn't designed to have it fitted. The Mk2 Focus Chassis was designed for 4WD.
Ford have easy access to a 4WD system.
The days of 4wd specials are long gone ??????????
Think Mitsubishi, Subaru, VW and Audi missed that memo.

Explain why my statement is funny?
I said that the days of 4WD specials are long gone. When was the last time a major manufacturer re-designed a basic model in order to accomodate 4WD?
As you say the MK2 Focus chasss can take a 4WD system (probably from Volvo) all those other manufacturers you stated all have chassis capable of taking a 4WD transmission.
Escort Cosworth - Escort shell mated to modified Sierra chassis. Nissan Sunny GTIR - completely re-designed rear to accomodate 4WD. You will never see a manufacturer making such bespoke specials again.

Ford could produce a 4WD Focus for less than £30K. If all of the above manufacturers (apart for Porsche and Lamborghini) can do this, then Ford can too.
They could easily sell a 300BHP 4WD Focus for £28k. Many people would pay that for a Ford RS instead of a slightly cheaper Subaru. I'm one of them. After all I'm considering buying a new Audi S3. With options that adds up to £31k and only for 265BHP. So a £28k Focus RS with 4WD and 300BHP would be better.
There are a lot of Hardcore RS fans out there that wouldn't think twice about spending that on a Ford.
Just a shame someone at Ford hasn't realised that fact too. If the Mk1 RS had had a Chassis capable of housing a 4WD system, Ford could have sold that for £27-28K. More power would have been required of course, but I doubt that would have been a problem.

If the original focus rs was 4wd they would have gone from the dealers withing 20mins of being released. At that time there was still huge ford following waiting for something to replace the escort. If it was my name would have been on the waiting list for one.
Now I think that enthusiams gone, there's been too much of a gap from the cossie. It'll have to be able to mix it up with the evo/sti now and ford hav just been building dross for the last 10years while these cars have been getting tweaked and improved all the time.
I don't think a volvo sourced 4wd system will be able to cut it with the company it would have to keep. I'd like to be wrong though

1. The MK2 Focus chassis is from MAZDA!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Mazda have a fwd 260hp hothatch for £18k. It struggles to cope with the power let alone ford coming out with their own version with even more power.
3. Volvo hothatch is 4wd, also running mazda chassis. Ford can easily nick their haldex 4wd setup.
