Tuscan for 15k....what am I missing?
Was looking through autotrader last night, doing the usual 'which super car will I buy when I eventually sell my flat' and I found a number fo TVR Tuscans around the 15k mark with low miles.
Is this too good to be true, I love the looks and they have plenty of ooompph. However are they likley to be low milers as they have spent most of their life in the garage getting fixed.
Anyone owned one?

I've got a TVR Griffith 500 .... and the later Griffith's (V/W reg) seem far more sought after and are going for roughly the same prices as newer Tuscans (Y / 51 plates).
Why ? One is a well known proven V8 ..... the other is a potentially extremely costly straight six made by TVR themselves which requires costly rebuilds.
More recent versions of this straight six engine are much better but the old ones have a terrible reputation for going bang !!!
I have only had a fan relay break on my Griffith in 2 years .... but when it's serviced all I see is broken Tuscans and Cerbera's. Both great cars and incredibly quick when they work - just costly to keep on the road IMO.
If you can afford the repair bills though not much will go quicker on the road and give you a major buzz everytime you drive it .

Was tempted to buy one myself a few months back but was totally put off by the often mooted maintenance budget of £3k/annum.
The reliability of the Speed 6 engine is truely shocking.
If TVR do eventually start building cars again they'll surely buy in a tried and tested V8, maybe a Chevy or BMW straight off the shelf.
