Fantastic, I was following rallying in the early 80's and remember those things well ....but when you look at the videos you realise why the banned them, not really because of the cars but the crowds....some of those guys are mad, no wonder it all went bad

It's a shame the WRC's gone all playstation really You can't beat the sight of a barely under control rally car, hurtling fully sideways into and through a proper corner

The trouble with the S4 though was, it always looked more like a bread van than a competition car. It's a shame they couldn't get the four wheel drive kit into the Montecarlo That would have been a cool car

I seem to remember the official reason they were banned is that The cars were "too quick" for the drivers, basically if it all went **** up, the accident had already happened before the driver did anything about it!
But the crowds were a lot to blame, Portugal had got to be the worst,
It was a great era though and i'm glad I was around to see it!
