Default £2 - £2.5k What Car?

Hi everyone,

A good friend of mine is looking for a new car (currently drives a 1.8 P'reg escort 5dr - dont ask)

The only brief i've got so far, is wants something not too dated (so a woman wouldnt laugh when you pull up), relatively cheap to run, hold its cash ok, he's not a car nut so not interested in anything silly & its an everyday car.

So far, i've mentioned Pug 306 TD, Focus zetec, Golf ? ? ? ?

He's mentioned a Corrado or a Probe (nearly hit him with the Probe call)

Plus something he can park outside his flat, which is the "ghetto" !!! Put it this way he's had his escort pi**ed on by some chav's !!! HA HA HA

Any advice appreciated

well, he doesnt really know (I know annoying)

Not anything to unusual, so more run of the mill as easy to pick & nothing silly.

Just to give you some car history, he bought his escort brand new 10 yrs ago for about £10k when he worked at Jaguar, still has it !!!

I've given him some banter dont worry.

Focus i think might be the way?

Focus is a nicer driver, but the VW badge will impress women more and lose less money.

I'd never buy one, but I have different criteria.

Saab's go for cheap money. Also have a friend who picked up a Alfa 156 (2000) with leather interior etc for about £3k - he uses it as an everyday car as he has a noble for weekends
