Default Should I still service my Merc at a dealer?

My C32 is now 5 years old, 40k miles and worth less than £15k trade. Up until now I've kept the service book stamped up from a main dealer and had other work like brake changes etc from my local boy.
Car is coming up for a B service which is quite big. Should I go to a main dealer to keep the fmdsh or is it not worth it anymore? The other choice would be to go to pne of a couple of local big outfits that specialise in German cars.

Are you happy with the service they provide and is it done at a reasonable price? If the answer is yes then stay with them, otherwise find a specialist. I do the same as you with all my cars.

my advice if you do not feel confident enough to undertake your own service work would be to find a local merc specialist and you could get the same job done but save some money

if the FMSH is being kept with resale in mind then I can understand the dilemna

on balance, bearing in mind the car's age, I think you could gamble with the resale value and go to a specialist, what you save on costs you probably would not gain in it's eventual sale

my two pennies worth anyway

Mines just in at MB at the moment. Without the warrenty I'd now be bankcrupt ! Mines a 2002, and I've had the IC pump done in Oct / Nov time, and now just had the Intercooler replaced along with some suspension parts. A serious amount of dosh if I had to pay for it.
It's also in for a 'B' service with 42k on the clock, I believe the B is in excess of 400 notes

Currently I wouldn't take it to an indy and risk the warrenty... however if you're not warrentied... then indy all the way !

Good luck.

Mark

Hi Mark,

No warranty to worry about. Must say I've been fairly lucky with the car, no major expenses so far (except consumables like tyres wchich it eats!)

Independant it is then. Will Merc still take my car in px if I decide to buy another car of them?

Deep,

The only thing to worry about is the Mercedes Benz Mobilo Life . To keep it operational you have to ensure its serviced by a Merc dealer.

Deep,

A good friend of mine is a MB technician with 9 years under his belt. He looks after lots of taxi fleets locally so if you're interested PM me and I'll give you his contact details and the name of the main dealer he works at.

Hope that helps.

Cheers
Ian
