Default BMW ECU's

Hi,
Is it true that Bmw's store the milage in an ECU as well as the clocks? and the car reverts to the highest if there are any discrepancies?

I don't think it reverts, but it's stored in the ECU as well as in the keys on some models I believe!

Yes, although I don't know if it spans back to the old E36's but the newer cars do store mileage on the ECU and the clocks, if they have been tampered with the clocks should show a little dot if I remember rightly although I'd still be cautious around cars because like any software, it can be over-ridden. "mileage correction" yes..... of course it's correction
