I have the same engine, albeit with less oomph (CDTi 150PS) and even that goes very well.
The dash is still a bit grotty but it's all solid and well made and the handling is very good indeed.
The engine (made by Fiat, used by Vx, Saab and Alfa) is probably the best of it's type (smallish performance diesel) and well tuneable.
Easy to get yourself a sporthatch and chip it to the same power with Courtney or similar.

I think he means the Special Edition Coupe of the old Astra, that came in blue. To be honest they weren't much cop I thought, just the 888 name on a Vauxhall developed car. A wheels, bodykit and leathered interior and not much else really.
Now the CDTi Sporthatch that 888 developed for Thurlby Motors is a different beast. This was developed by 888 and yes there are only 100. They look great in the flesh too, I've really grown to like the Astra Sporthatch looks. With the 888 wheels and suspension its looks quite mean and moody, and it supposed to drive pretty good too. Contact Thurlby Motors to see where if any are available, otherwise you can still be all the kit from 888 direct.

I had a 51 reg coupe turbo not the 888 model 192 bhp from the tin, top end 152 never tested it that far mind you, mine was very reliable in the year i had it, nothing went wrong, expect for a change of brakes normal wear and tear, pulled ok, traction control on it was spot on in mine, and there is a few diffrent performace packages out for them now, and they look really nice, here is a photo of my old one.
