Much prefer it to the Z3 which was more than a little effeminate. Apart from a TVR or boxster S, it is probably one of my favourite open tops, RWD, great build quality, good depreciation and quite rare

BMW and tyres is a mystery.
I've binned the runflats off my Z, stuck on a set of KU31s (cheaper but which I thought I'd try having heard good things instead of the usual F1's I buy) and its sooooooo much better. Just stuck a can of Tyreweld in the boot!

I looked at the Z4, but I thought it was a bit expensive, considering the 'old' engine and the sparse level of kit. Plus visually I didn't think it had the meaty 'M-ness'.

Boot in my 3l is huge - battery is under the floor
Not expensive anymore either, I picked mine up for 18k, 3 years old 36k miles fully loaded. The equivalent Boxster would have been 5 years old with 50k miles and no where near the same equipment level.

The Z3 coupe was a real looker, this is even tastier.
BTW, drove the Z4 Alpina at Milllbrook - it was a hoot, damp track in april giving it loads. Great car.
The Z4 makes a great looing Coupe, you can get the coupe in all engine guises out here. May get a 3.0l as a serious fun car and a Hummer H3 to run the kids about in.
Merry Christmas Neil ,your new car looks great, i do like the Z4's

As for meatiness - stick the 19" CSL rims on and be done with it.

Saw a black one on the road today - it looks great - really mean car. Sounded good too. Very nice by all accounts, but as Davyboy said - nearly 1500 Kg! That is an awful lot.

The weight figure BMW quote includes a 68kg driver, 7kgs of luggage and a 90% full fuel tank. This applies to all of their car's weight figures, with the exception of the CSL which weighed 1385kg without any options, such as air-con or the ultra heavy radio...
So for the Z4M Coupe, the actual wieght for the purposes of comparison with other cars, is going to be comfortably under 1400kgs.
Anyone who knows the density of V-Power multiplied by 90% of 55litres, could possibly tell us the exact weight to be deducted from the quoted 1485kgs, if they really care...
Steve.

I bet they are a really great car to live with. Wonderful engine and meaty looks. You're going to get hammered on the depreciation so if you could find a used one (difficult I know) you'll be onto a winner. I still lust after the old Z3M Coupe

I stupidly hesitated a couple of months ago when offered a Z4m, at a ridiculous price, on contract hire. Have regretted it ever since.

I like the new one, but its nowhere near as mad looking as the original which was proof to me that someone at BMW has a sense of humour, looks like a 70's Matchbox concept car or the Monkeemobile. Fantastic. The new one is a bit too sensible and good looking in comparison.
