Hummer comes off very badly in crash
What a mess. Apparently the driver survived, I don't see how though. Not sure of the speeds, but judging from the damage to the bus I doubt a modern 'normal' family car would deform this badly.

As the above, I can't believe a school bus (even an American one) would inflict that sort of damage on a Hummer (unless, of course it was made in Hong Kong).

Very strange, looks like the bus fell out of the sky. Also notice the glass on the tail gate - unless it was broken after the accident then it would indicate that speeds were very low (glass tends to fly off in the direction of the impact) hence it should be forwards not backwards..

I'm not convinced the picture is real - there doesn't seem to be enough material at the front of the wreck. Also there doesn't seem to be an engine and hummers have big-blocks that wouldn't be destroyed into small parts on impact.

Defo must be fake. I would imagine that the windows on the bus would be bust half way down the bus from the impact......and there certainly wouldn't be any in the rear of the bus thats for sure

Deffo looks duff. Hummer at the speed required to cause that damage would be immense. There would most certainly be more damage to the school bus, and they aint tanks.

Haha. The Scoobynet fountain of knowledge drops another level.
If you posted a pic of a Black Square on here someone would be along in a second to say that it wasn't really a Black square, it was really a Blue one that had been Photoshopped

You all forget or don't know that the Hummer H2 SUT is classed as truck, and therefore doesn't need to meet car crash safety standards. The test for a truck is very limited, and this is the sort of damage you see when an SUV in the US crashes into something bigger or of equal size to itself. They fold up like tin foil............

I can only assume that the FD broke the back window out from the inside then. I was doubt broken in the crash. The H2 is based on a GMC Yukon is it not? Not a weak chassis by any means.. would be interested to see more photos of this one.

Listen guys, that pic is complete bollox. Buses are in effect fibre-glass bodies mounted on steel girder chassis. A Hummer, however badly built they are (as miltary vehicles ), would have made a mudh bigger dent in the back of that bus.
I've seen lorry tractor units that have rolled over and the chassis has been contorted completely out of shape merely form the weight of the cab going over, even if the rear chassis legs remained intact the body would have been devastated.
Got you talking though hey

Can't anyone google decent sources these days?
WISH-TV - Indianapolis News and Weather - Hummer Crashes into School Bus
Also school buses are made to Fedreal standards which are very Volvo-like, and certainly a much more stronger than the normal coachbuilt bodies.

Yup, H2 is just a flexy body plonked ontop of a wafer thin ladder frame car chassis
School bus is huge reinforced unitary steel body plonked on top of a thick guage ladder frame truck chassis.
Some crash footage here: truck vs. bus side impact is the best one (broadband only): School Bus Crashworthiness Research
(the pdfs have the pics in towards the end )
edit: something a bit more bandwidth freindly Inside Thomas Built Buses - Safety & Value
