Not overly surprised. With all these mainstream manufacturers pumping out 500 bhp plus cars like no tommorrow it was only a matter of time before the supercars hiked the bhp right up. It was becoming too much of a fine line between supercar and thundersaloon IMHO.
This is the second such car in the last 3 few months I have seen claiming monumental power and presumably perfomance to match.
Would love a go in something like that though as I'm sure most of us would

Not having read the link, I'm assuming this is the Bristol Fighter T, in which case its going to cost £349,000....My colleague at work called them to confirm the price the other day. Thing to note about this is at its governed top speed of 225mph, its actually sat right at peak torque rpm of 4500rpm, thanks to its 50mph per 1000rpm top gear. It should quite happily roll along all day at that speed provided the road and tyres can last. Oh and check out the drag coefficient, 0.27cd.

Basically its a twin turbo Viper engine in a bespoke chassis, the Yanks have been doing monster HP Vipers for a while so theoretically its quite conceivable that this car will have that much power and be that fast.
It would concern me slightly that Bugatti put years of R and D into the Veyron to get it reliably to produce that power with adequate cooling, reliability and electronic systems to reign it all in and keep it safe. It looks like Bristol have just got hold of a monster power Yank unit, dropped it in and are hoping for the best which is a kind of British thing to do.
So I suspect it will, unless it has some electronics be a hell of a handful and that the last 600 horsepower may be pretty well redundant most of the time unless you want to end up facing the the way you came, I bet it will spin up at any speed in any gear on road tyres.
It does look ungainly, sure, there are hints of Metrocab to the interior and outside looks like a kids drawing of an Aston Martin or a car from a 1990's pc game, i.e. limited polygon count, but I kind of like it, I like the fact its so un ostentatious for the ammount it costs, I saw one the other week (Not this one) and thought it was a Volga or other Russian diplomat type car, even so just reeks of class and eccentricity, why buy a Bristol ?, I think if you have to ask then perhaps you should stick to something a bit more bling you Pikey Magpie !

And forgot to add, what an ugly looking car......
I'd take a Mclaren f1 / Zonda anyday....
or a Koenessigg (however you spell it)
