V-Class Mercedes, are they that bad?
Seriously thinking of buying one of these to do executive travel
These seem to be the vehicle of choice along with the more expensive Viano and Chrysler Grand Voyager.
However looking on the internet it seems that the reliability of the V-Class is feckin' horrendus.
So now i'm stuck as to what to do.
Do i take a gamble and hope it is ok reliability wise and hope it not break down (with a bus load of businessmen on board)
Buy a Grand Voyager - which does not really do it for me or seem to have the kudos of a Merc
Or stretch myself and buy the Viano - although a secondhand one of these are 20k.
BTW it really needs to be a comfortable 6 seater
Anyone have experience of the above?
Cheers

hello mate
bought 2x v220cdi mercs a couple of years ago with 150k on them, in less than 3 years,
my cousin had one off me (4kids)
it is now used on the horrible school runs and general stop/start local traffic, another 20000+miles now added, and he has spent about a £700/800 on serviceing and other parts, still goes really well, his problem now is affording something to replace it , and with what
as long as you spend the money on maintenance , miles don't seem a problem
merc also has unlimited mileage warrenty as long as its serviced by them for the first 3 years, i had work done on one of them!!!

hi mate
i think he's getting around the 30ish mpg
the vclass is quite heavy, about 2ton!!
with auto box
heavy right foot and they drink, the gearing seems tobe set for acceleration, with all the weight, top speed about 100mph, they will cruise along about 80ish, over that and they start to rev a little hard
