A4 Convertible? Anyone owned one?
Thinking of chopping in the A4 for a convertible - probably be the 3.0 ideally, but 1.8T otherwise (which I would chip to 200bhp)
I know these are heavy cars, so whats real-world MPG likely to be? How big is the boot? And are the rear-seats big enough for adults on a long-ish journey?
Anyone owned one? pro's and con's?

know a 19yr old with one but hes in jail atm. The motor to choose is either the 1.8T or the 3.0 No idea on real world MPG. Boot is of a fair size, the back could get cramped depending on thse size of the adults.
Pro's:
considered to be the most beautiful 4 seater convertible of modern times.
Alot more exclusive than 3er
Better interior than beemer
Cons:
Not as good to drive as a beemer

I've got an A4 3.2 quattro cab. Economy is about 22mpg around town and up to 35mpg on a run so not bad for a heavy old lump with 255hp. Not driven a 3.0 but I would think a standard 1.8T would struggle with the weight judging by mine. Figures for mine 0-62 6.8 secs and top whack limited to 155. I think the performance on the 3.0 is down a tad on these but the economy should be pretty similar.
If your looking for one make sure its a sport model, these will have the 5 spoke star 17" alloys, lowered suspension and a three spoke steering wheel, avoid the SE models as they drive hideously as the suspension is far too wallowy.
Am very impressed with mine after 6 months ownership

hello petem95
my mate, problemchild75 (smacs member) had a 1.8t the best option,
first , think about the green taxes that are on the way
all big engined cars will be given away!!
mymate went to a company called awesome gti, who were in manchester, seem to have gone, maybe worth a search
they remapped the ecu and fitted cruise control
the cruise had 3 settings
1, standard 160bhp
2, valet mode? won't rev over 3000rpm
3, max, 240bhp
his car was new and under warrenty, and if you you set it to standard audi could not tell it had been messed with so warrenty was still valid, if you need more info contact problemchild75 , he will be somewhere on the northern part, in (smac to the ring) or ( smacs muppets and numptys)
the other option is deisel which is getting very popular, because of the fuel , tax, economy, and the diesel can be remaped, , the same guy above had a new A3 2.0l tdi, remap 200ishbhp, it gave 45mpg average on a run from manchester to topgear studio and back, we were hardly ever below a ton
