Whats a SKyline 2.5 GTST with 63k worth?
just been offered this but was wondering what its value was..
also any pro`s and cons of owning one?
(oh and before you say "go on the skyline forum mate" i thought i would aks you well educated petrolheads first!)
its black and on a L plate.
only mods are induction kit.
bodywork looks very clean and the car has some service history.

If its a Skyline GTS-T Type-M; 2 door coupe, then the transmission makes a substantial difference to its value. In Japan theyre worth twice as much if theyre manual, most are FAT.

I sold it because we'd just had a daughter, we we're going on hols, and I knew damn well all the junk that goes with kids wasnt going to fit in the boot.
I'd still have it now if that wasnt the case. Just make sure your a rear wheel drive man. Thinking about slip sliding down the A3/M25 sliproad anti clockwise at 70mph still makes me laugh.

i have had a fair few mr2`s so i like rear wheel drive!!....
i thought i would like the sure footedness of 4wd but.......
i must admit i do like having a fight with the rear end on roundabouts!!
so was it quick comapred to a 300bhp wrx?

How weird is this???
I just bought myself a R33 GTST and am picking it up tomorrow....bog standard apart from a drift diff ( ) and it's got the same miles!!
Thats with warrantied miles and it's a real minter....I can put you on the bloke if you like
as he's got another one...
I'm only playing £4200 for it though which is a pretty good price....

Right well, from finding out as much as I can about Skylines the main problems on pre95 models are rust underneath.....you can get it coated but ideally the less rust (or none!) the better.
apart from that because they're 6-pots and as long as the turbo hasn't been played with, the engines are pretty much bullet proof and are easy for 350/400 with no internals needed doing.
So a straight swap doesn't sound too bad but have you anything done to your WRX?

And as for a good deal it depends on what you really want....
Scoobies are a much easier car to get on with and I know a few people who have gone and come back because they missed the burble, the handling, the 4 doors etc.....
But then again sideways is so much more fun.....and you don't get the almighty transmission loss when you want to run more power.....
I'm still keeping mine for the moment because I'd hate to get out of it then realise I want to go back

well he paid £4200 from a dealer im guessing so real world value of £3500-£4000, much better car imo to early wrx's but i would only want a GTR skyline, simply because a GTS is still going to cost alot to run so you may aswell have the performance/desirability to go with it.

Oh no, I paid that from a private importer/mate of mine....they normally go for about the £6000 mark for ones as mint as this.....plus being standard makes it very desirable
Gtr's are the best but the only real differences are the styling and the 2.6 engine not the 2.5.....plus they're twin turbos and most people get rid of the twins for a large one anyway......plus the gtr's got for around £12k for a decent one!!
Even though yours is a 94 thats still cheap money your selling ot for...id go for a swap with an extra £500 easily for you cause if he strips the mods he'll get more than that

I assume as it's a '94 "L" that it's an R33, as opposed to the last of the R32's?
I went from an early WRX to a R33 GTSt and although it was a good car I found it wanting. Mine even had a RB26 2.6 twin turbo engine transplant (only around a dozen of these in the UK ) The car is significantly larger than a classic Scoob but is smaller in interior space, & less practical. The car's size also makes it unsuited to "back road blasts" I can't speak for the 2.5 ltr, but whereas mine was very quick - in a straight line - at higher speeds, at low speeds around town in normal driving conditions it wasnt anything special IMHO. Sure, you could get the back end out easily, but on normal roads??? It sounded great, but the running costs were even more than a Scoob.
They are infinately tunable - much more so the GTRs - & no, not "everybody" swaps the twin turbos for big singles (only the serious drag strip boys) but to tune above 450bhp ish you've gotta have very deep pockets.....
Just my view, & I wouldnt want to steer anyone away from owning a Skyline, but there you go....
