Just wondering if anyone had any idea of what the problem might be with me door other than it being french...

Ok locked my car with the remote central locking yesterday and went to open it by the normal means by the remote and everything opened fine apart from the passenger door where the lock seemed to try and open but couldnt open enough and therefore remained still locked. I tried the key in the lock with no luck and also if you try and pull up the stalk/level insid ethe car to unlock it it just seems to be jammed. So i took the door panel off and had a look and everything seems to be connected but the problem seems to be in the actual electronic lock but I havent got a clue what the problem is and how to solve it, so any ideas anyone ??? Is this a common problem at all ??
