Question MY 2000 V Seat Toledo 1.8 SE?

Cut a long story short.

Galant totalled by a **** who ran into it whilst stationary, with Jenny and the kids in our car. Jenny and kids are OK although Jenny now has to have regular treatment to lower back injuries, could have been a lot worse!

Insurance co a nightmare, pay out's, value, slowness, generally ****e!

We ended up with a Mazda 626 2.0l which has been a POS. I thought it would be relaible but no, not in this case, been into the dealership 4 times. Keeps stalling/cutting out and still not resolved. All fixed (well almost, paid for) under warranty but a PITA. Jenny has lost faith and wants rid!

I have spoken with the garage we got it from and they have the Seat.

We only need it for 6 months - until Jenny comes out to Dubai.

it has 140K miles on it FSSH.
12 months ticket
Just had new disks and pads all round, usual SE spec.

I am not fussed about image, are they relaible, is there any know faults or things to look for/check?

Thanks in advance

Ask the question on a Seat forum, you may have more luck!
e.g. http://www.seatenthusiasts.co.uk/forum/index.php
One of the Seat forums I found had a seperate Toledo section, looks like it could be this one:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/
so that's two you could take a look at.

A mate bought one a few months ago (not sure what engine, but it's a Toledo) which was running ok, but now seems to have developed a fault with the thermostat or temperature sender which it is currently having fixed. This is a problem that could happen to any car so I wouldn't read much into this. The way that the car has survived a few months of his driving is impressive, this is the kind of guy that redlines it everywhere.

That's typical, just speaking to my mate on MSN:

mick says:
i'm well pissed off the heads gone on the car
Dave says:
what has caused that - is it a porous head?
mick says:
no idea
Dave says:
is it a head gasket or what?
mick says:
ya the gasket £300+ to fix
Dave says:
£300 for the gasket or £300 all in?
Dave says:
that's steep
mick says:
all in ya think its because it 's a 20valve head

LOL, you might as well register on the site, apart from the occasional email from them you shouldn't get any more junk mail.

It made me laugh when reading it, some people had had a remap and gained about 10BHP and were impressed with it, I was thinking what's the point!
There's a nice toledo on there somewhere, it's lowered to the floor and has massive wheels, looks nothing like the standard car.

My sister-in-law is also looking at getting a Seat, but going for one of the smaller ones with a diesel engine.

Check all the windows go up and down, water leaks from door seals and pollen filter, and that the cental locking is OK ,other than that they are not bad!

It turned out it wasn't the head gasket but the water pump which he has had replaced along with the cam belt. Still cost him nearly £300!

Unhappy

Thanks chaps,

Went to look at the car, it was a dog, clutch slipping interior and exterior a mess, it had had a hard life and it drove like it was coming towards the end of it.
