Default Audi remote key not working properly

Could be related to my water in passenger problem (resolved I hope!) but here goes.

car: 2000W Audi A6
Lock car with remote - OK
Open car with remote - OK
Leave car for a little while and it does NOT open the car, boot button works ok tho.
Open car with key - OK
Lock car with remote - OK
Open car with remote - OK
and so on.

So the remote 'works' in that it will open and close the car. However, leave the car for a little while and you need to open with the key. Once open with key, the remote works again until.....you get the idea

Sounds like the key is being pressed a few times out of range of the car (duff batt or too far away) & then losing the coordinated signal with the car. In the manual for my Passat it walks you through a reset.

Thinking of replacing the battery as a matter of course, may resolve/help?

Trying to work out if it's the car or the key where the problem lies.

It makes 'sense' that after a while the keyfob is losing it's info if battery is playing up although it still opens the boot ok. I'll disconnect the car battery for a while (see my other thread) in case things all need 'resetting'.

Sometimes when you replace the battery in the key fob it will loose its signal, so you have to re-adpted the key fob using your spare key in the ignition or take it to a dealership but obviously that will cost you. Or sometimes it will work ok.

just resync the key with the car, it tells you how to do it in the manual. If that dont do it then try and find someone with a VAGCOM to read if there is any faults

I took the batteries out to check what ones they were and then put back in. I then re-sync'd with car (had to as blipper didn't work at all) and it worked ok. Still the same problem if left a few minutes. If I use the blipper from behind the car at a certain height, it works! I'm guessing the battery in fob is almost out so will replace on tuesday when I can get the right ones(halfords didn't have any and audi shut for bh weekend). Will see if this sorts it.

Have mech mate who has a reader should the battery thing not work.

If I have missed a comment then sorry. However, you suggest "water in passenger ?" now resolved. If it means water in passenger compartment, that is where the activation of the remote is located I believe and it may be water damaged.!! Happened to a friend's RS4 (new) recently.
