It's a 1989 car registered in 2000 so it's 17 years old, surely it can't have been good for the car to only have done 35 miles in that time? Even just from lubrication point of view.

Better for it that doing 100,000 miles, cambelt should be ok, I mean it may be an idea to replace it as a matter of course but even though its been on for 17 years it hasnt done anything, the heat cool cycle is what kills them, along with oil and water getting to them, how old do you think a 'new' one from a Toyota dealers or car spares shop could be, i.e. could it have been stuck on a shelf for the same period.
