Default New E class

Anyone own one? Are they any good? I'm looking at one for my wife to run during the week and as a family car at the weekends. The NCAP tests look great. In particular, has reliability improved since the recent problems at M.B.?

Tb - i have an E320 Cdi avant with all the trimming. Its 9months old and apart from the an SBC brake unit failing i personally prefer it over the 535d i previously owned. I find it more refined an more luxurious.

Not hard to believe - I drove a 535d touring t'other day and it felt like going back in time ride-wise. Real shame

Depends how old you're looking for, the latest ones have pretty much ruled out all of the early problems e.g fuel leaks (cdi engines) and SBC units (across the range)

Definitely a nice refined machine, i can't give you balance between it and the 5 series as i have only driven my old E39 not a new one.

The E320cdi is the one to look at IMO as it has all the good attributes of the E320 petrol without the downsides i.e fuel consumption, buying price

SBC unit failing was a nightmare but i contacted Merc 24hrs Breakdown & i was on the go within an hour abliet with a ****ty C Class petrol. Got the E Class back a few days later & a letter from Customer Services.
Cant fault them at the moment.
