Default New Civic Type R, Like its prototype

How similar is the new Type R going to be compared to the prototype on Hondas website, has anyone got any links to reviews or more pics of it please.

Many thanks

SO no two piece front discs then. I'm looking forward to seeing some specs for it. Rumour says it's sticking with the 197bhp unit from the current CTR but should be lighter to up the power to weight ratio.

Wonder if they'll ditch the electric steering and use hydraulics instead?

I thought it looked good in the initial press pictures but now i'm not so sure.
I read somewhere that someone said it "looks like a built-up shoe"
Spot on.

Not if they want to keep the weight down they won't?

I have seen a more aggresive front end and smoked front lights. I don't think the pictures there are the finished article.

Interested to see the final spec and how it drives.

other half has just traded his old shape 05 plate type R in for the civic CTDI basically for economy reasons ( does about 300 miles per week to and from work... was getting about 23 to the gallon from it compared to the 45-50 miles he's getting from the diesel). He hopes to be back in another type R within 6 months or so. He was thinking about waiting for the new one to come out... but then again, when the new model does come out, maybe the older ones will get a good reduction in price

personally, I think the new civic is bloody disgusting... and don't think much of the pics of the new type R ... much prefer the look of the older shape ones!

I agree, think the new civic is ugly. Just doesn't look right. definitely needs bigger wheels imho.

I prefer the old jap imported white only models, very rare and very nice!!

Not seen them any other colour. I'm on about the 1996 models.

Doesn't matter, still think they were the best looking of them all.

spoke to Honda rep yesterday he says the only noticable difference are going to be the wheels as the prototype image looks like around 20 inchers

The base model civic look very nasty IMO but the type r is very different

Those pictures are of the typeS rather than the typeR I believe.

Try this

How many rolls of black tape have they used to cover the red paint LMAO,,, would have been quicker to just go and buy some black paint from B&Q..

My friend works for Honda and he told me that the new Type R will have the exact same engine as the old car.

I love it - I just couldnt see me ever driving something FWD again though

Maybe a DC5. I presume this still has no LSD?

Just been in a new Civic and you cant see out the back window, nor can you see the bonnet - at all! The oldies wont be buying it....

I know what u mean DBM, the design flaw in the rear window visibility is shockin in my opinion. Did this not get pointed out in the testing ffs ?

Especially not good for spotting marked Rozzers on the Motorway, u can't see the car let alone the foookin lights

I would rip that lower rear spoiler off straight away! It DOESNT look good! Power is not up to 220bhp, its staying the same. Rumours are the Type RR will enter production taking the power up to a new level

I have news on the new type R!
having spoken to the sales manager at the local honda dealers this mornnig after other halfs new one had to go in for some paint work doing.

The new type R WILL have exactly the same engine as the current type R.
it's due to be released approximately next march.
Mark went to the Honda institute to test the new type R.. it's handling is far superior to the current model
however.... a type RR is in the making... it will have between 250 and 300 bhp... and it's a possiblity that it will have 4WD . Honda are apparently working on the suspension and the chassis.... competition for subaru and mitsibushi.

sounds like it's gonna be a right stinker!!
start saving yer pennies guys... I know my other half will be
