Bought a Mondeo today
With a nipper on the way the A3 needed to go and be replaced by something with more doors.
Picked up a September 2005 car with 10K on the clock for what seems like really good money from a main dealer. Its a 2ltr LX. I was suprised that I could get the Mondeo for less or the same money as the base Focus / Astra of the same age.
The Mundano really is a nice place to be, nice interior, cruise control, heated front wind screen, partial leccy seats, CD, air con etc etc ......
It will do for a year or so

You're profiting from the traditional family saloon's unfashionable image (even though it's probably a hatch).
Mondeo's are fantastically good cars for their sector, I've had a few and the only criticisms I can think of is that they are underpowered and they have a bit too much overhang on the front which makes it very easy to misjudge and scrape the bumper, not that I did but it was close.
Great steering feel for an assisted car as well, feels much smaller than it is on the road.

Had a 2.0 Mondeo Zetec Estate
Agree above fantastic car provided you paid the right money. Found the seats really comfortable (Much better than my old Saab).
Only minor gripe against mine was I found the 2 litre lump a bit thrashy and noisy at higher revs.

Yeah, Saabs are meant to have the bests seats in the world yet I preffered the ones in the Mondeo and dont like the Saab ones that much, the cloth wont let you move, its like a granny's velour couch !
I sold a perfectly good Mondeo 1.8 LX to get a Fiat Coupe which turned out to be a right woofer.
My bro has just got a TDCi one and seems to like it, like the man said, good value because they are so familiar and as such treated with contempt by the buying public who buy Mini's, Rav 4's and VW's because a Mondeo will make them look boring ?

I've got a mk1 'Deo 1.8LX that I picked up for a few £ to use as a runabout/tow car last year. Apart from the shot to pieces front suspension and the worst case of "cat' rattle" i've ever heard I quite like it. Cheap as chips, comfy, nice to drive, pretty bullet proof engine so far.
The MOT's just about up so i'm thinking of chucking it in the bin if it fails in style and getting a Ghia X (because I want all the toys ) with some MOT. Does anyone know what the earlier V6 engines are like or would I be better off with the 2 litre Zetec? I've heard the earlier 6's can be a bit temperamental.

Pick it up on Saturday. Its hard for Emma to get motivated about it as the A3 its replacing was a lovely car and I wouldnt let her buy the new Leon she really wanted (out of budget price range). Still in a year or so she can have a sporty Leon if she so desires.

I have the 2 litre LX TDCi also, i was impressed with the spec for the basic level as well, although might invest in some alloy's eventually!
Mine is coming upto 100k and all it's had done is brakes replaced and new fuel rail, pretty good for a car with 100k on the clock!
