Default For those who like RS6 Saloons

At the weekend I had a friend of a friend (car cleaning fanatic) wash, clay bar, cleanse and Zymol Titanium my RS6 Saloon.
So I have attached a few photos.
They also show the Milltek Exhaust which with the engine and gearbox re-map is giving well over 500BHP (277bhp per ton, same as new M5)

Nice one dave. Like the RS6 badges on the door strips. Always had a soft spot for the saloon model but needed the practicality of the Avant. Can your mate come over and do mine? There's beer money in it! Mine's going for a Stage 2+ mod soon with the Milltek exhaust.

Very nice.

I'm after an Avant when I return from my hols now the STi has gone.

Can't decide on colour though! Avus Silver or Daytona Grey

Thank God for the internet I can shop from abroad!

Phil

Edit: Does the Miltek make the V8 rumble much louder?

It's good to see you've reined in that competitive streak over the last couple of decades Ed!

ETA - Nice RS6 Dave.

Cheers.

What option did you go for on the remap BTW, and did it include removing the limiter?

I prefer that over the avant. My grandad likes estate cars and has owned various ones over the past 10 years so that kind of puts me off the avant

The re-map of Engine and gearbox including de-limiting was £1K as was the Milltek exhaust.
I had oth done by Jim Curley at Star Performance in Glenrothes as I had experience with him before on dyno testing my(and other) R34 V Spec.

Well sold my RS4 today, before ever setting eyes on it so need to find a 'new' car at some point.

Is it true that the avant and saloon are the same length and virtually the same weight? If so is there much difference in the handling between the two?

Avant is ever so slightly heavier, however the reviews have all pretty much stated they preferred the handling of the Avant because the suspension seems to be more 'supple'.

If ultimate ride is your biggest worry, make sure you specify the 18" wheels as the 35 profile tyres on the 19" wheels can cause some jarring over sharp bumps like motorway expansion joints. However I think the looks are much much better with the 19's and I find the handling and steering feel far exceed the levels I was expecting now I have had time to get used to the car.

Ed, I can't specify wheels on a second hand car. Do most have 18s or 19s?

Also, do Audi have an extendable warranty like BMW and Porsche?

I am looking for one at the moment and most seem to have been specced with 19"s

I am pretty sure you can extend the warranty as long as the car already has a full Audi service history and after another inspection.

Not sure on price though.

Almost all RS6's have the 19" wheels as it was a no-cost option. I don't think I've ever seen one with the 18" wheels, even though some of the Audi approved used ones on their website mistakenly say 18's.

Yes you can extend the warranty up to 5 years, but at just over £1500/year it isn't cheap. There is talk of Audi reducing this to a more reasonable £1000/year.

Gary.

My advice is don't go for a car without warranty, whatever the price. E.g. 15k for an engine rebuild

IMHO the 19's look great and really add to the poise of the car, and the road noise and ride is not bad enough (yet) to warrant changing, however if you wanted you could likely chop in the 19's for a new set of 18's and not lose much money.

The Milltek exhaust is somewhat louder (but not irritatingly so) at normal revs and tickover. If you "hold" a gear and let it rev it sounds wonderful iside and outside.

Off to look at an Avant in the morning.

Apparantly has 505bhp from factory.

ECU was sent to ABT as an option when new. Anyone know anything about this?

It's on an 03 plate. De chromed Daytona Grey mmmm

Yes, I saw an advert for a RS6 that said ABT is the only Audi approved remap. Is this true and can it be retrofitted/cost?
