Rejecting a brand new car with problems.....
Hi,
(Don't worry, it doesn't relate to a Subaru!)
I've recently bought a performance diesel which from picking up from the showroom I noticed an idling problem once the engine was warm and struggles to get over 40mpg when driving extremely sensible
Gave it till 600miles (documented running in period) to settle but no better so booked into dealer.
Dealer recognised the fault and it was soon made aware to me that a few cars in the country had the same problem and the foreign factory was working on an engine remap to fix. Good news I thought
It's now just over a month into the ownership of this car and I've escalated this it the customer services manager who also tells me 'I'm sorry, our factory is still looking into the problem, and the fix could be weeks maybe months away, we just can't give you a date...'.
Hello I've just spent five figures with your dealership and I have to wait to have a problem fixed which has been there from day one
I'm considering my options. GET A REFUND?
Trading standards seem in favour of this approach but they also say they aren't sure depending on the period I've already had the car.
Comments appreciated.

Is it a Skoda. No, a Renault - right ?
Sadly, you need to put effort into having a fight. First thing i would do, is join which consumer legal services, put a call into them and know where you stand. They will also offer advice in what to do next to achieve the result you want.
Hope that helps.

This is the 06 Fabia VRS isn't it.....
Not having driven one to know how bad it is, I'm not in too much of a position to comment, but I know a few owners are getting very agitated. If it was my money though, I'd reject the car, particularly as Skoda have ackowledged the fault but do not have a fix.

I can neither confirm nor deny but I know what you are referring to and my fault is different unfortunatley.
The idle is so rough you have to keep your foot on the accelerator in order to keep it smooth - sounds like you are ready to race all the time
