Default Jaguar XK - Top Gear

Has this not been posted on already? Jeremy Clarkson must have an alternative agenda - the Jaguar XK is simply not as good looking as he was given to gushing on about. I found it a little embarassing. I dislike like BMWs as much as the next man but, ignoring the badge, I prefer the 6.

They all went on about how good looking it was, I thought it was an utter pig of a car to look at. The BMW looked even worse, the Merc looked ok.

Those front lights are straight from the parts bin.

Audience got it right - Aston Martin everytime (despite the apparent reliablity issues!)

Clarkson is a Italian and British car lover. He is biased towards anthing that is. He isn't a massive fan of BMW's or Porsches [reading between the lines], however he changes his mind every 5 mins - lol.

Had a good look around one and a drive (brother is Jaguar sales manager)
They sound lovely, but afraid the looks are just not in line with Clarksons comments. It looks good but nothing more than that. No where near as good looking as any modern Aston. For some reason he went way OTT on praising the looks. In fact, best view is square on to the rear.

I agree it's not a good looking car full stop ! i just can't see why he's getting such a hard-on with it , it sounded good enough but that was it

The front lights just look wrong on the XK - like a Ford Probe or something.

I think I wouldve gone for the Merc out of those 3 - the 6series just doesnt look interesting enough to give a 2nd glance, and doesnt look expensive - the Merc may be getting on a bit, but theyre still smart and the folding hardtop is a big plus.

Reminds me of a fish that. Is it just me or do the average joe pictures of cars always show the car in better light than official pics.

I'm glad this thread is around, I thought it was just me that thinks Clarkson needs his eyes tested. The car looks rubbish, everything on it has been done before, including the switchgear it seems. Its as if he's taken a bung!

Exactly what me and the mrs said! Just felt like a rather pushy pitch for the Jag - also, to our ears, it sounded like a rattly tin can.

As for comparing the Beemer and Merc - he didn't even bother driving them! So much for a fair comparision. I've got no problems with folk having a gut feel for cars, after all we all buy to some extent on an emotional level, either loving or hating cars for no tangible reason, but the review just SUCKED!!

Come on Top Gear, you can do better than that! I agree with previous posters, we need more proper car reviews, of all price ranges, and less of the drivel in Radio stations. Not funny when it last for a quarter of the show

After Buttertubs head east on the B6270 towards Richmond. IIRC it's the second road signed for Askrigg.

Is Clarkson not on a retainer from Ford?
