www.motorprovider.com have them in stock at £17695, brand new UK pre-registered. Any colour, as long as it's silver. For over £2k off, this wouldn't bother me too much.

John,

Import Golf GTis are not the bargain they seem

You must add a alarm

you only get a two year warranty

and resale will be much less

VW dealers will do discounts on cars they have coming into stock (have to be lucky though)

Other than that I wouldnt touch motorprovider

If you still want a import check out

these guys

http://www.select-automotive.com/index.php

and this one they may have stock

http://www.euroimports.co.uk/

also

http://www.drivethedeal.com/ for a proper uk one

silly question time...

why 2yr warranty, can this be changed?

how do you know about the lower resale value if there are none available yet? if youre saving 3k, surley the resale value in 12months is not gonna be 3k less than a uk spec.

We only saved 2.5%, but got 3 week delivery on a UK car, which we've had for 10 days.

Now it is just about run in, whilst it is responsive and doesn't feel turbocharged, it is also quite slow. Was about to get it remapped, but we're moving to the sticks and only 95 RON is available locally so might not bother as the wife wouldn't drive out of her way for the right fuel.

Maybe if she gets stuck in the snow we can chop it for a WRX that I can play with a bit

Hmm John thinks a 911 is slow !!!

I think they are as quick as a WRX but a far better everyday car

It feels like a typical VAG car with all the good and bad that goes with it. Rolls and bounces a bit much, not the last word in feel. Very easy to live with, easy to drive, but nothing at all inspirational, having driven it a few times I'll leave it to the misses or the next long drive. Quite impressive interior space, doesn't rattle, sounds like a food mixer. It is a joke to call it a proper performance car though.

I had one on test drive and in damp conditions the traction system was a joke. 200bhp was far too much for the front wheels, light on the dash was flashing like it was Christmas. Traction over sensitive in my opinion.
My v6 4 motion was a rocket in similar situations, so four wheel drive all the way for me.
