Default Waddyarecon?

I'm seriously thinking of chopping in the scoob for a single turbo RX-7....

I've been toying with the idea for a while now and one looks to be coming up that would be a real beast.....UK car....low low miles with a street port and BIG turbo, strengthened box, diff, apexi PFC pretty much a staggering car...
I know they're not the most reliable of engines but......they drive so so so well...

Anyone on here had any dealings with them?

Any DECENT info or replies please....

I reckon you should go for it. I changed my Scoob for an RX-7 a year ago and love it. The engine was rebuilt before I got it and I had to run it in for another 500 miles. I have had no issues at all with the car and the only performance mods are a catback exhaust for now. An Apexi and decat will be coming soon which will give a nice hike in power. Love the looks and the 8000rpm redline!

I've been toying with the idea for ages.....a couple of good friends of mine have really big powered machines and another one is a major performance tuner..they've been trying to convince me for a while and i'm weakening...

(plus I think the handling and ride is truly awesome.. )

Only problem is it's green
and I've heard the engines like to go pop when you start runing 450+bhp through them?

As long as you have the supporting mods required to run that sort of power such as front mounted intercooler or large stock mount, water injection, correctly mapped ecu, larger injectors and bigger fuel pump then you’ll be fine but understandably the engine is not likely to do 100,000 miles. I know quite a few guys running big power, one has 439bhp at the wheels and the other 460bhp at the wheels on single turbo ported motors that regularly get thrashed.

And yes the handling in the dry is superb!

Are you part of the MRC?
Know John Yorke or Laquee by any chance?

I'm gonna see what kind of deal this tuner can come up with first but it does look like i'm gonna divert to the RWD side

Yep I’m on there and I know Laeeq well and have met John a few times with that yellow beast. A load of us met up recently and went for a run through London. All the pics are here http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24302

I do miss the burble and grip of my Scoob at times but you wont have any regrets!

Yep very small world, I remember you on our tunnel run. You had a little blast up the road with my mate Gav in the white Evo, and you left us a little early. No wonder you want a Rex with all this rotary influence from Dre and co. Hope you get one and we’ll see you at some meets again soon!

Good luck steve

i've seen how hard you find it to keep an awd on the right line while on boost, i'll be well away from you when you try and pilot a rwd on boost

Your not being funny at all! fair play 10k is a good price, budget for rebuilds every 3-5k and a stonking fuel bill and rear tyre replacements

i'm eager to see sliding, hopefully with control
