'Even immigrants make more money than the average northerner'
Have you ever been 'oop north', might open your eyes a bit, not sure why you think incest is more prevalent once you get past Waford gap, sheep maybe but kids no.

Mind, I guess it depends on the immigrant. An immigrant who's a GP will earn slightly more than I do as a University Lecturer. The London weighting wouldn't encourage me to move south however, as it'd all be lost in the increased cost of housing etc. I wouldn't have the £56,000 worth of cars sat on the drive, that I do now...

I make £20k less a year as a GP in Scotland than I would in London. Must be a reason why I don't move given the availability of jobs? Might be because I work four days a week in a pleasant rural setting with far lower stress levels, the housing is cheap, cost of living is cheaper, roads are brilliant, most people are down to earth. It is colder, but other than that I've just sold it to myself again

Excellent point John. Can't beat quality of life.
It takes me 20 minutes to drive the 21 miles to work - in the so called "rush hour". Lovely countryside etc etc. Oh, and when we want to spend some dosh, the largest retail shopping complex in Europe, 30 minutes away - The Metro Centre!
Cheers

Not sure if it still is, but the largest Ferrari dealership in the UK, was between Durham and Sunderland. The 2nd biggest Porsche dealership's in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

I could get work in the South any day of the week due to the IT job I do, I choose not to as I get enough money up here and dont have to travel into ondo which is just misery having done it for a bit.
Its funny how people from the South seem to think its improssible to be happy in the north, and we can still use hosepipes !

It depends on the job alot of the times too. Up north a plumber will earn between £7.50-£14-50 per hour whilst in london it starts at about £12.50 and go all the way up to £30 per hour. £30 pound an hour is rare now because of an influx of plumbers.
Im surprised of the amount of replies to the regards of wages. If I was elderly Id move out of London too, but right now im at my prime ready to work my *** off for another decade or so.

Locally we have Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche, I think they just put the dealerships there to upset Northerners seeing as we cant afford them and we are all to busy buggering kids anyway.
I think the point of the thread is that the S2000 owners look a bit like the average Scoob owner !

I turned down a contract job the other day as it was only 35 quid an hour (in Salford), need at least 40 to make contracting worthwhile. By the way, when did anybody, anywhere get a plumber to do anything for 7.50 !

As opposed to what, Superhuman Ninja Plumbers ?
Flipping eck, 150 quid an hour, probably cheaper to train as a Plumber which is what I did as a young lad but at the time the money was **** so I went into IT, could be classed as a mistake but things ebb and flow and at the moment there is some serious money for IT bods who know Sap, Oracle etc.
