Cool Bye scooby, hello RR Sport !!!!

Well this time next week i should be Scoobless, the 2.5XT is on its way to a dealer forecourt somewhere in Sydney, and i should be the proud owner of a RR Sport 2.7 TDV6.

I have come to the conclusion you need a larger 4wd out here to survive the other nutters who are on the road.

I will post a report and some piccies after the first few weeks on the initial ownership experience

Hope you enjoy your new car. I think the RR sport is lush. You will probably get Rabib the arsehole on here shortly slagging you off but just ignore him.

RRs up until recently had a terrible reputation for reliability. Can anyone say if this has significantly improved with the latest models?

Errr... generally. RR throughout the 70s,80s and 90s had a pretty awful rep. Just wondered about the latest shapes, whether BMW had had any influence for example (though I thought they didn't really touch them?)

ah, thank f for that, thought you meant this beastie http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Vehic...r_overview.htm

Pick it up next week, it looks absolutely superb, the forester is great, but the RR Sport has more presence i would say

Brendan

Big difference and they did touch them a lot.

And if anyone needs validation, check out any of the latest RR's from launch to about 2004. Go to a wing mirror, and pull it flush against the body (like you would do in a narrow street). Have a look at the logo that is now visible - and see what you think...

Someone I work with has had quite a few (brand new) Land Rovers and the reliability and build quality has been absolutely disasterous. Even the (BMW engineered) latest Range Rover... which is suprising.

David, the same could be same for scoobs, my wife has had a 3.9 range rover, a disco 2.5 tdi and a 2.5 td5, they were on the road more than my previous 2 scoobs, which suffered from lots of hassles.

The first one which was brand new on a 98 S plate (the first 99 model), spent most of its last year (24-36 months) being either recovered, subaru assisted etc, the new one UK300 with PPP in 2001, spent its first 8 months going through the same.

I love scoobs because i have always had them, the wife likes Landrover, and the scary thing is, she has had the better deal in terms of road term even when you worked out the years we have had the cars

They did use BMW engines, but they dont anymore. No sourced from Jaguar (also Ford group).

Newer RR's are better built than the old ones, but arent up to the levels of the German stuff.

They are a handsome beast and seem to be popular too, amazes me how many I have started seeing recently, even the Supercharged one, I should imagine they are taking a lot of sales away from the X5 and Cayenne. Arent the basically a Discovery (no bad thing) with a lower roof and a more purposeful look ?

Enjoy the new car !
Ever car CAN have its problems.... I had a Brand New Golf GTI (The New Shape) and between the Dealer and VW UK they couldnt keep the car on the road for more than a week at a time.

In my eyes the New Golf GTI is utter rubbish.... but there will be thousands out there that say im wrong.

Thanks wish, hope it is cured sometime soon, nothing more frustrating than a new shiney motor that will not go

Nope... Sold the car and will never touch another VW again.
I can handle the fact the car had problems, but the way VW UK tried to palm me off ..... thats just not on.

Wish, a mate of my brother in laws had big problems with his new GTI, you may not be the only one.

It was chipped, shouldnt make any difference on a new car though.

ABS - use to activate when driving normaly.... sending the eeebbbbyyy geeeee bbbbbbbeeeeessssss up me
Seat belt warning chims and the time when seat belts were in
both plip keys wouldnt work
Alarm was replaced twice.
Lights use to come on and off in day light
wipers had a mind of there own
Rear wiper motor packed up twice

Out of the list above they got the rear wiper motor replaced, and the Alarm was renewed.
It had a number of ECU's and other controlers and still it wasnt right......
The way the VW dealt with the problem was even worse that the actual problems on the car. Then VW UK customer care got involved and it was game over .........

Be warned when buying a VW ... There is no customer care
