Was thinking of getting one of these as a second car.

Not owned one but done a thousand miles or so in my boss's 3 litre auto .... it's OK but didn't live up to any of my expectations really.

Feels very heavy and leaden in steering and handling, and the ride wasn't good. Performance was underwhelming too, even with the 3 litre.

This is in comparison to my daily driver, a diesel Passat

Just my opinion but having run an old XJ6 4.2 for a while the X-type compared unfavourably in every department, despite being 20 years younger ...

Autocar had one that had done 300,000 miles and still drove ok, only had minor work as well, i.e. same engine
