Default your biggest money pit?

Mine has got to be my vectra gsi, paid £4600 for it which was a bargain at the time or so i thought. In the first 6 months must have spent nearly £2.5k on head gaskets, water pump, 2 wheel bearings, gearbox, air con pump. Only to have the cam belt snap writing the engine off ended up letting her go for £400 , losing nearly 7k in 8 months

when i got my defender ended up having new water pump and few other bits,

prob spent a grand in 3 months.. i kept gettin punctures aswell, so ditched standard wheels and wacked some BIG BF goodrich tyres tyres on it!

Not cost a penny lately, needs a good service though

Your vectra mate could of been broken for parts more than that, the interiors go for about 400+ on ebay and the front bumpers about 300...

My Integra is the worst to date, a grand spent in my first month on clutch, driveshafts and exhuast parts!

7 years of car ownership though so for that to be my worst I feel I've done ok.

If I had actually attempted to fix my bmw it would have been worse as it was all going wrong! Sold though

Renault 5 GT Turbo. Blown its head gasket. Spend Best part of £500 getting head skimmed new gasket set the odd valve etc etc. 1st day after it was done it went pop again. Swapped it for an old XR2.
Ducati 996: Last year Spend £1050 on a Service then bought a few £100 worth of bling. 2 weeks later some spotty 17 year old (not long passed his test t*at) Took me out at a junction. Completely his fault as he pulled across my right of way, yet still a year later he wont admit liability.

I had a Volvo 850 T5. It was a fantastic car, and I don't regret buying it at all. But I bought it for £6250, spend £2000 on wheels, brakes, suspension, remap, tints and a few other bits - enjoyed 5000 miles service intervals including a cam belt service, enjoyed 18mpg and finally sold it for £4000 12 months and 20000 miles [90000 in total] later.

The other major, major pit was me being silly. I bought my, then girlfriend [now wife], a 2002 Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique. £199 deposit, £199 a month. We ran it for 6 months, 4500 miles and she got pregnant, so I sold it and it managed to cost me £2000 in negative equity. We had gap insurance but I couldn't bring myself to lose it .

Anyway, I am sort of on the straight and narrow now -lol......

Best cars have been E30 BMW's. My first was a 1986 325i 4 door. Bought for £700 off eBay, cost pennies to maintain, added some lowering springs and sport BBS for about £400 and sold for £1150 a year later. I then had a couple of cars [including a very expensive Saxo VTR] and bought an E30 M3 [hence Andy M3] which I ran for about 8 months, bought for £6500 and sold for £6750 - cost me petrol and insurance! Happy days.........

Some of this sounds pretty bad.

I've put about 8k in to a 944 turbo over 3 years, but thats a lot of track miles, including race pads, and R compund tyres.

However, there are Subaru (and other cars too) owners out there who are spending £300 per month on finance, £100 on insurance, £XX servicing, £XX tyres, £XX mods and about £300 a month in depreciation too!

Now that's a money pit!

LOL

£3-4k of mine turned it into a 200bhp monster though

My sister just lost £11k on a 2 year old MGTF she bought from new, so that makes me feel better

Renault 19 16v, bought with the heart not the head. Utterly abused by 5 previous owners...

Needed a cat 1 alarm, wouldn't start occasionally, rattles all over the place and a fecked gearbox. After putting 3 grand I couldn't afford into it in 12 months, it was time for it to go, and was replaced with a 1.4 Astra which cost me 12 quid in parts for the whole year...

I had similar with a 944 Turbo. I only had to drive past the dealership and they would send me a bill

Well other than the place I live in which me and the missus gutted out and started again with it will have to be the Escort Cosworth I owned.
Wanted one for so long and eventually settled on an Ash Black one for £13k.
Ran it for a couple of months booked it in for a WRC Headgasket ( as it was using a small amount of water, tell tale sign ), had the head re-built they where just about to put it all back together when it was found that the block was cracked
So what was going to be a £400 job ended up at about £2.5k !!!.
All told I spent about £5k on the car in just over a year and never really got it how I wanted it.
The wife was disliking it more and more ( especially as the rebuild money was designated to a conservatory ! ) so it had to go.
Fond memories though........

Still at least I've got me Scoob now .

Default Ultimate Money Pit

This is my biggest money pit

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...rwood/Bora.jpg

Picture is one of my car taken when it was used as a feature car in Classic and Sportscar magazine. I'd rather not work out what it has cost since I bought it in 1998.........

Mind you it has also given me some 'ultimate' memories.

At this moment at specialist having yet more problems sorted out

The link didn't work for me, but from the text I'd guess you have the consolation of owning one of the prettiest cars ever made.

Link fixed (I hope) also now found a picture of my actual car.

And thanks for the compliments yes it is a beautiful car, it is also one of the best sounding.

Gorgeous vehicle. I love them to bits. If I had a garage I'd be tempted! Although I've often thought a De Tomaso Pantera might be a safer 70s supercar bet... much less complicated under the bonnet.

Like this one:

Spotted in the lakes this weekend, it was a minter and genuine I think.
