Default Had my first race today woooooooow

Exit roundabout in the wet......dual carriageway........i'm in the outside lane. Look to move into the inside lane, flick on the indicator and there he is. Brand new, shiney, sleek, purposeful. He is edging towards passing me on the inside........hmmmm I cant have that, the indicator goes off. I look at my wife, she glares back, she's seen him. The gauntlet has been thrown down....
I NAIL it in 3rd from 30mph.......He's gaining almost alongside now, i'm worried, starting to consider throwing shopping out the window, need to loose weight. I hit the power band, things happen quickly, the revs soar, I use more of the revs than i'm used to and ****** 4th. He is moving backwards, I look over and can see a grin on his face. Is it a grin, is it a grimace? I have no way of knowing. I'm clear of him now, passed, own him, destroyed him........I flick the indicator back on, move gently in the inside lane, shortshift to 5th.....arm on the window, feeling like the daddy. He pulls out, moves alongside, looks in and smiles ...... then he contiues on his way.

Wooow what a feeling, the car performed amazingly, never knew it had that under the bonnet ........

The cars.

Him ----- Peugeot 407
Mine ---- Rover 420 SLi

Dont mess with the best .........

Yip... its a good engine, truth be known, its the only reason I bought the thing. The comedy factor of having a Rover that can mix it up with reasonably warm hatches is worth the peanuts paid itself!!

I'm sure there is a large element of jest here but take a read of this thread and realise just why even the merest hint of competitive driving could land you in a room with a little window and some new pals to tear you a second arsehole after they've finished with the one you've already got.......

http://www.volvot5.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=5265

Haven't seen this thread linked to before on here but anyone who hasn't read it could do well to note what happened to the guy who didn't actually cause the accident.
