Talking bora tdi 150 sport????????????????????????

anyone got/had one?

save a couple of grand on a same spec golf,

black leather looks good aswell, I need to drive one first but can imagine it would be nippy(compared to my rover 400 ),

am I right in saying that its 190 bhp after a revo chip (£400) any known issues with this kind of upgrade?

what do they handle like?

cheers
Taff

Only problem I know of with remaps is clutch slip.

And wheelspin The traction control on my Octavia vRS has been working overtime since some more modifications yesterday

But I don't care - I'm loving it

Bought a Bora Tdi 130 Sport about a month ago. Cant fault it, as you say, save a huge amount over equivalent golf, and I needed the boot space for our new baby. (not to put the baby in! but the pushchair etc.) I'm well impressed with the power/torque, (on the Tdi 130)and such a nice refined drive. Remap does make a huge difference, just does melt that clutch, after 10,000 miles of having it done from my research. Whats that matter though, time for an uprated clutch then!

Apparently the TDI 150 are less prone to clutch slip after a remap.

Everything I've read seems to say it's hit or miss whether you get clutch slip with a 130, but I went for the 150 for it's stronger internals and FMIC, as I knew sooner or later I will modify the car!

I have to say I'm really impressed with the boot on the Golf! The five doors give good access to the rear seat for the baby seat. The boot can take a big-ish pushchair as well a travelcot. And there's still room for a couple of overnight bags. In some respects it's better than the Foresters boot!! (The Golf's boot is not as wide, but a lot deeper!)

Maybe I should look at replacing the Forester with a Bora/Passat/Octavia TDI!

If the Bora is anything like the Golf, you will love it Mike!

Surprisingly quick once rolling. I seem to be terrorising MR2 turbos and Golf 1.8T on the way to work!

Good job you are nowhere near me then Andy as I've just got meself a lowly 1.8T 150

My mum described it when she saw it by saying 'It's a bit sensible isn't it?' LOL

Still, mine is staying unfettled (apart from the stereo which was changed the day after I picked it up) as it'll be my daily runner and only car until I'm in a position to get that elusive Elise

If you get a decent map they can limit the torque if you want to save the clutch, its torque that kills clutches not bhp

as stated before my 130 is 197bhp and 292lbs/ft torque, no issues of clutch slip and i've already done over 5000 miles since the re map so i'll wait and see, no problem if it starts slipping anyway cos i'll just fit a uprated clutch, i've still got a very quick golf and saved me £1000's on the price difference compared to my 130 and a 150

Uprated clutch and flywheel needed. 1K approx inc fitting. Believe me you will get slip sooner or later.

130 is slower even when remapped, generally has a worse spec and weaker engine.

I'm another 130 owner and they do the job well even as standard. Handling is "safe" but not inspiring in the slightest. My mates/family/neighbours think it's a really nice car, I think it's dull as ditchwater and would get rid of tomorrow if it wasn't so damn cheap to run

Not sure if it will work on these cars but worth investigating if you need a better clutch. The Corrado G60 clutch & flywheel can be fitted to quite a few of the VAG cars as a cheap way of getting a stronger clutch, ALSO replace the bolts, Jabbasport are good people to talk to about this as theyve done a few. They are also IMO one of the best at mapping them. Our 110 bhp Skoda went to 164 bhp, was mapped at 8000 miles & is now at 103000. No probs & still somehow on a std clutch. The 150 bhp 4x4 is now 356 bhp but that took them more than a remap

I've driven the 130bhp version (mate of mine works for VW) very nice car, and personally I prefer the styling over the golf.
Only thing to bear in mind is it has just been replaced by a new model (forget the name) don't let that put you off though

The Bora has just been replaced with the Jetta. "Not as expensive as it looks" or something!
