Golf VR6 - Track Car?
Friend has a K reg high-miler just sitting in a garage gathering dust. 3dr
Is it worth having off him to convert to a cheap track car?
I know its a heavy old bustard but a bit of trim removal would save loads of lbs!!
What do you reckon?

Ok, they're not that heavy. Lighter than my 306 GTi6 in standard form.
A VR6, fully stripped with decent coilovers will be a great track car. Thicker ARB's will also help.
An exhaust and induction (if you're into that) make them sound immense.
Rollcage, buckets and you're away.
Note, the camchains on thses - - - - - the chain isn't the problem. It's the rollers, they wear out - THAT causes chains to snap. If you're worried, get it changed but you'll need £1200 ish (unless you can get it cheaper).
HTH.
Good luck!!!
