The bits i know which will upset you are that the RS isnt acutally a 2003 model car, its a 99 model car so you dont get most of the bits you want from it (heated screen etc) which is the biggest letdown for these cars....

I had one for nearly 2 years. A brilliant car. Corners hard, grips harder. The only one quality issue I had with mine (that effect a lot of Focuses) is that when it rained water can get inside via the air filter, soaking the passenger flootwell. Had mine corrected through a dealer. Appart from that it never squeeked or ratled. Brakes are the best thing about it, there just unbelievably good.
Get it blufin'd mate, I did. It's only an extra 25BHP but makes a hell of a difference. Running costs are low compared to my STi PPP, although I never got any better than 20mpg.
Part of me wishes I never got rid of it, and for 90 percent of the time the car handled great. The only bug bear with them are on bumpy, camber ridden roads. The front diff can make the car pull to one or the other side, making overtaking on said roads a bit of a nightmare (I nearly side swiped the car I was overtaking a few times) though if your daily route is not on these types of roads, then it shouldn't be an issue. People will say that it will kill you after what Clarkson said, but it's been proved that the press cars were set up more aggresively to the customer cars.

Out of interest, what are the front brake pads like? I ask cos I bought a set, anti squeel high performance ones £271.00 that I never fitted, due to trading the car in. I don't need them, so if you want to buy them at a very reduced price, then give me a pm.

Enjoy your car mate, you've made a good decision.

This was a problem also with the mk1 mondeo's, down to the rubber seal in the filter box deterioration with age, though i wouldnt have expected a newer shape focus to suffer the same

Only a thought, would it not have been better to get information first, then buy the car.

Not being cheeky or ought but did you not consider getting a new ST? Im sure you could get one for nearly the same money as the rrp is about £17k is it not? Some brokers must be offering discounts close to what you bought the RS for. As i said im not trying to be funny as i actually like the RS but if it was my money i would rather of had the newer car. In fact someone was on here earlier selling a black ST for about 16k and he had only just got it.

Awesome car. Really exciting to drive.

I had two of them and they were both rock solid. Amazing handling, great mid-corner adjustability with the diff and one of the most aggressive turbo setups out there... a huge whack of torque all in one go at about 3000rpm. It's a pretty extreme car to drive (much more extreme than it looks) but hey, that's my kinda car. Both of my cars (and two other Focus's I've owned) have both been very reliable.

I've moved onto to other cars now, but I think I'll always look back fondly on the Focus RS. There really is nothing else quite like it.

The best forum specifically for the RS is http://bbs.rssi.co.uk/

Fantastic cars, really aggressive to drive and really rewarding - massive grin factor!

Dealers are the worst part of the experience, you are better off going to a specialist like SCC to get servicing and any work you want done.

Also try going to bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk
