Question BMW service indicator lights - how to read them?

Hi - could somebody explain to me how BMW service indicator lights work i.e. how many there are lit after a service, where they are displayed/how to display them and how they indicate the type of service due next?

Thanks

When you turn on the ignition they all turn on, then only the remaining lights are displayed. 5 lights, 3 green, 2 amber.

When you get to the last one it's service time. they work according to driving style and mileage.

As for which service is due, Oil, Insp1 or Insp2 - refer to what the last service was in your service history.

It goes:

Oil Service - Inspection 1 - Oil service - Inspection 2 - Oil service - inspection1.......and so on.

Just beware on early Early E39 5 series with dodgy dashboard LEDs - they suffer dry solder joints and don't always show all the LEDs (as well as garbled up information/mileage readings ).

Be aware that you can reset them with a £10 Draper tool.
