Default Is this true?

Can FTOs (All show no go) really beat Scoobies or are these chavs dreaming?

http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic...1825&highlight=

Reason I ask is I wanna get a scooby but if they can't even beat an FTO I'm going down a different route.

Cheers

Do you mean a scooby turbo or a sport? An FTO could beat a sport I should think. no chance against the turbos.

As for the link, it's an irrelevance. We don't know the following
a) what scoob it was
b) what fto it was (modded?)
c) whether the scoob was trying or not

their signature says it all 14.9 at the pod, that's at least a second slower than a scoob could cover it.

Buy it for the car...not for what it beats.

....that's why I tell people NOT to buy an Impreza - performance figures and what "it beats" means nothing when it comes to pure driving pleasure.

Unless that person has the ego of a tw@t ...bit like some of the FTO owners on the link "oh look mummy I'm a big boy now, I can beat this, and beat that"

A Scoob will "beat" an NSX...but I'd know which one I would prefer to drive

But for the record..the FTO "all show, no go" pretty much sums them up Although the higher spec ones are pretty good midrange though.

1/4 mile times are not really a full measure of a car's speed. Neither is 0-60.

If the FTO can do a 1/4 in 14.9 and a scoob can do it in 13.9 - yes, there is a second difference.

However, that 1 second advantage is (I'd say) almost exclusively being made by the scoobs 0-60, having 4wd.

If you compared the 60-100 - you'd find the two cars pretty much matched. From rolling, scoobs are not particularly quick. From a standing start - they're rockets.

Anyway, really you guys shouldn't get drawn into Vs discussions - not because there are plenty of cars out there that can keep with a Scoob when rolling, but because despite this the Impreza remains more composed, more capable, quicker A-B hands down, better sounding, better to drive and full of character.

Internet forums are the quickest way to spoil the enjoyment of your car ever invented. There's always someone prepared to slag your car off, highlight trivial weaknesses, invent weaknesses or tell you how their Daewoo Matiz beat one up Santa Pod.

My advice - dont rise to it.

I've finished with scoobs, had 4 - needed a change, bought an Integra DC5 but I still have appreciation for the scoob. Scoob has never been a drag racing machine - it's a quick car A-B, just because x y or z matches is in a drag doesn't necessarily mean x y or z is a faster car.
