Hope this helps

btw, how much BHP do S2000's have, looked through the link you gave, and the 60-100 was alot better than i thought?

I never thought they would have been quicker than a P1

240bhp, rwd, 1260kg and they aren't faster than P1s. Slower but not by much except in the mind of Neil (Frazer) who will soon come along and claim that P1s are waaaaaaaaaaay faster than my old scooby despite the fact I've yet to see one 1/4er more than 0.1-0.2s faster

Frankly I don't care - I could have a P1 tomorrow or better yet an Sti and enough money left over for 400bhp of mods.

(bit of an MSN battle been going on in case you can't guess)

IIRC they have 247 bhp - at the time they first came out they were advertised as having the most powerfully normally aspirated 2 litre engine... I think!!! ???

They are indeed n/a engines and awesome to hear one rev all the way to the red line. I've had a play with one coming onto a motorway and they are very quick cars. I was putting some distance between the two of us but not much. I've got a 1994 WRX with full de-cat, walboro 255, induction kit.

I think the Amuse GT1 is the best looking S2k i've ever seen, everything about it screams 'fast', and the engine doesn't let it down either 550Hp!

Must be a monster on the road

Default My PPP classic vs S2000

Evening

I was lucky enough a while back to be at Brunty with my PPP UK Turbo with decat and my friend in his S2000 with just an aftermarket induction kit. Anyway cut a long story short 0-120mph it was only 2-3 car distances behind my scoob and above 120 the S2000 overtook me and kept going. We eventually got 148mph out of the S2000 on the digital speedo! and the S2000 is very entertaining to slide around a course. Its like a turbo coming in when you can still floor it at 7000rpm in the S2000 and hit 130+ in 6th gear.

The S2000 is certainly faster than a standard classic or bugeye

Cheers

Ash

I've raced your S2000 and raced my bros P1 and you woulnd't get close to it, 30-130 you would literally be bus lengths behind. Also your old Scooby might do good times but its terminals are nothing to write home. My Cup is faster than your S2000 and the P1 starts to pull away at about 70 and leaves me for dust from then on up. Im not claiming it is faster I know for a fact it would leave your S2000 way way behind.

(hehe cya on msn)

How many times must I tell you this. When we raced I was running my induction kit! I did a before and after video with my induction kit vs standard on the same road, in the same ambient conditions with the same weight in the car and the standard car was clearly 1.5s faster from 30-100mph. I posted the video on S2ki - everyone agreed the induction kit robbed power. I was also running two up and you were on your own and in a modified clio.

My car is significantly faster and is soon to have a full decat exhaust which starts to close the mod gap with your car. I can assure you from 30-140mph my My99 with 275bhp at 1240kg would NOT leave my s2000. Now correct me if I'm wrong but the P1 has 276bhp and weighs around 1260kg so how is it going to be THAT must faster than my old scooby? It has a slightly different final drive but that is it! 13.401 @ 103mph - please find me standard P1s at crail posting noticeably faster than that.

Also at an Aberdeen meet I raced two up with my weekend luggage a full decat P1 that was spitting flames and he only pulled about one car length on my MY99 from 20-silly! I know he was trying because we were at a bloody meet and talked about it afterwards. If pauls car is nailing your cup after 70mph then it would be setting terminals of around 106-108mph (on the basis of your 101 terminal) - show me any standard P1 thats doing that!

Also - edinburgh bypass, I'm two up with the roof down and I lost about 3 feet to an EVO 6 from 30-70+ mph.

Saxo: it's like talking to yourself saying anything other than the obvious is fastest, despite what you may be able to prove.

You'd have to keep up with/hammer/match every single idiot/blind/my car is the fastest/etc. in person to get them to believe a scooby isn't the fastest, best handling car EVER.

It becomes dull after a bit. My old MR2 turbos (had a few) used to bang out P1s and standard fayre scoobies on a regular basis, but all I got was blah, blah, blah despite me seeing them in the flesh getting smaller in my mirrors.

All I'll say is that I can't wait to post up on the first thread about a P1 being raped by a 335d when BMW bring it out. Buying the S2000 has tought me so much about cars - I used to be totally addicted to straightline speed and whilst I still love it and like to keep my honda at the top of its straightline game its the overall driving/owning experience that does it for me now. For the value of my car I could have much much much quicker machinary but I chose not to for a multitude of reasons. With Andy F on my way to work believe me if I had some spare cash for a 2nd car I'd have an STI 5/6 with significant modification. I don't because overall the S2000 is a more appealing car to me.

None of this matters anyway! Who spanked Ciderboy?

A 1.4 Focus will spank an STI around a good track or decent bendy stretch with a good driver!

I used to work with an ex works rally driver (part time (him)) and we had a go with him in an Uno, 1.2 I think and me in a MK2 (1990) MR2 T and he did me with ease. I'm an average driver - as we all are.

Conq, you got an ra or short geared scooby or did he have his roof down? Odd that he'd match you to 60 then lose after that - if anything it should be the other way. The S2000 is weak 0-60 and is nothing more impressive than a hot-hatch. It storms on from 60 up.

Are you not pleased with your purchase saxoboy?

Ive just read the topic on S2KI and since you bought that S2000 you have been constantly going over the same topic again and again almost trying to justify your choice of car over the P1?

Just live with it. The S2000 is a great car, very different to the P1 but it isnt as fast.

Couldn't agree more TNana.

Very pleased with my purchase - I was initially worried that it was down on power but getting rid of the cheap shoddy induction kit sorted that. Now very happy but I don't need to know every other day about how much faster a clio cup or P1 is when I could sell the S2000 and buy one of each (albeit p*sh examples!).

I posted the topic on behalf of Ciderboy who was very interested to know that mods the scooby he played with had. There was no reason for it to be an S2000 vs anything thread.

Who cares which is faster in a straight line. Get them on some demanding A/B roads and if the S2000 can keep up with a P1 then I'd be impressed.

Put them on any sweeping, smoothish and dry a-b road and if the P1 can keep up with the S2000 I'll be impressed. The P1 grips, the S2000 handles - once grip runs out you'd better hope your car handles

I have read on a couple of websites that the on the limit handling of S2000's is something to be aware of (past 8/10th's). Have you noticed any of this, or atleast heard anything about it?

Not trying to incite anything, pretty much every car on this thread would outpace/handle mine.

If you don't know what you are doing it will kill you. Once you approach the grip limit if you floor it the backend will come round and you'll have to know how to control it or you'll spin. If you lift-off the same thing will happen. In short its driver error in not knowing how to handle a 'focused' rwd car. At 9/10ths it can be steered on the throttle using lift-off, power oversteer and by gently pushing her wide.

The pre-2002 cars were particularly hairy and snappy on the limits

i also thought it was weird i beat a s2000 i didnt expect it, he must of been really crap! to loose against a classic with 4 wheel in the car with tyres! but none the less he did loose but marginally
